Klabin Receives R$ 1.2 Billion to Expand Forest Exploration. Billion-Dollar Contributions Strengthen the Plateau Project and Consolidate Klabin’s Forest Expansion Strategy in Southern and Southeastern Brazil.
Klabin announced the signing of new agreements to receive R$ 1.2 billion in contributions for the Plateau Project, aimed at expanding forest exploration in the states of Paraná, São Paulo, and Santa Catarina. The investment is led by the BTG Pactual Timberland Investment Group (TIG) and the British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI), one of Canada’s largest institutional managers.
With this injection of capital, the total amount invested in the project will reach R$ 2.7 billion by the end of 2025, according to the company’s statement. The funds are still subject to regulatory approvals but reinforce the company’s strategy of sustainable growth and financial discipline.
Expansion of the Plateau Project
The Plateau Project consists of 23,000 hectares of planted forests and more than 4,000 hectares of productive land. The initiative aims to expand Klabin’s forest base in strategic regions of the South and Southeast, ensuring wood supply for its industrial operations and strengthening its presence in the paper and pulp market.

The company emphasizes that the contributions are part of a long-term vision aimed at optimizing return on invested capital (ROIC) and reducing financial leverage. This move also consolidates the company’s relationship with major international investors, increasing market confidence in its projects.
Timeline of Contributions
The project was originally announced in October 2024, with an initial contribution of R$ 1.8 billion. In February and June 2025, new stages of capitalization had already been communicated. Now, with the reinforcement of R$ 1.2 billion, Klabin consolidates the most robust phase of the investment.
According to analysts, the billion-dollar contribution reaffirms the company’s position as a leader in forest management in Brazil, in addition to contributing to sustainability practices, as the exploration is based on planted forest areas rather than deforestation of native vegetation.
Impact on the Paper and Pulp Sector
The movement strengthens Klabin‘s position at a time of increasing global demand for packaging paper and sustainable solutions. With the expansion of its forest base, the company ensures self-sufficiency in raw materials and reduces risks related to price volatility in the international market.
Moreover, the financial reinforcement signals to the market that Klabin maintains the capacity to attract large-scale investors, which could open the door for new partnerships and projects in the future.
The investment of R$ 1.2 billion in the Plateau Project shows that Klabin continues to strengthen its strategy of sustainable growth, while attracting international capital to consolidate its leadership in the forest sector. The combination of expansion, financial discipline, and focus on sustainability indicates that the market will remain attentive to the company’s next movements.
