The Portable Speaker Bets On Extreme Resistance, Powerful Sound, Artificial Intelligence, And App Integration To Compete In A Market Dominated By Established Brands, While The Price In National Retail Quickly Falls And Broadens The Appeal Of The Model For Those Seeking Portability Without Giving Up Advanced Resources.

LG has started selling in Brazil the XBOOM Grab, a portable speaker with 30 W RMS aimed at competing in the compact model segment by combining high durability, good autonomy, and artificial intelligence features for automatic audio adjustment.

In addition to its sound proposal, the product comes with IP67 protection, a promise of up to 20 hours of playback, and integration with the LG ThinQ app for sound and lighting control, while the suggested launch price is already significantly reduced at various national retailers.

Developed in collaboration with artist will.i.am, the XBOOM Grab aims to strengthen the brand’s presence in the market by uniting portability with a technical set that includes a 16 mm tweeter, racetrack-shaped woofer, and passive radiators at the ends, with a clear emphasis on richer bass.

Robust Construction And Proposal For Outdoor Use

In terms of durability, the XBOOM Grab focuses on one of its main selling points.

According to LG, the model has IP67 certification, which ensures resistance to dust and temporary immersion in water, in addition to internal tests associated with military durability (MIL-STD) standards.

This set is reflected in a body covered with high-resistance fabric and rubberized ends designed to absorb impacts and withstand frequent transport in various environments.

Even with a focus on robustness, the speaker maintains compact dimensions.

The manufacturer states a net weight of 0.7 kg and reduced size, characteristics that facilitate transport in backpacks or the use of the integrated strap to hang the product during movements.

On the other hand, the transport solution presents practical limitations.

The side straps effectively serve the purpose of loading and securing on smaller points, but show less efficiency when used on thicker objects due to the material’s limited flexibility.

On the top, the physical controls are concentrated.

There are buttons to power on and off, volume control, playback, Bluetooth pairing, and access to features of the LG ecosystem, such as Auracast.

During use, the lack of lighting on these buttons catches attention.

In low-light environments, this can hinder visualization, although the raised finish helps with tactile identification.

Bluetooth 5.4, Auracast, And Control Via App

In the realm of connectivity, the XBOOM Grab uses Bluetooth 5.4 and offers compatibility with Auracast.

This technology allows the same audio to be transmitted to multiple compatible devices in a synchronized manner, expanding the usage possibilities in environments with more people.

Additionally, LG indicates support for multipoint connection and pairing modes between speakers of its own line.

For complete management of functions, control goes through LG ThinQ.

The app brings together volume and battery information, as well as sound profiles, detailed equalization, and options for customizing lighting.

Despite the variety of features, the initial organization may generate some strangeness.

In the first uses, navigating between menus tends to require adaptation, which increases the learning curve until all functions are fully assimilated.

Among the differentials, Auracast stands out.

This feature allows creating a sound network with other compatible speakers from the brand, as long as they belong to the same generation and meet the compatibility requirements set by LG.

Artificial Intelligence In Audio Adjustment And Environment

The presence of artificial intelligence applied to sound is one of the pillars of the XBOOM Grab’s proposal.

In intelligent mode, the system analyzes the content being played and automatically adjusts the equalization according to the type of music.

The environmental calibration aims to adapt the sound response to the space where the speaker is positioned, considering reflections and acoustic characteristics of the location.

In practice, these features serve as a starting point for those who do not wish for constant manual adjustments.

Still, sound profiles and the dedicated equalizer gain importance for users who prefer a more balanced signature.

Out of the box, the speaker setup favors more intense bass.

This behavior becomes evident in tracks where the bass is prominent, such as the introduction to “The Closer I Get To You,” in the version by Luther Vandross and Beyoncé.

When the focus is on more complex arrangements, such as in “Y Si Fuera Ella,” by Alejandro Sanz, adjustments in the equalizer help highlight mids and trebles, allowing instruments and vocals to stand out with greater clarity.

Still, versatility finds clear limits.

The absence of integrated Wi-Fi and dedicated microphones for voice commands reduces possibilities for independent use, even with support for control via smartphone.

Internal Components And Sound Power

From a technical standpoint, LG describes the XBOOM Grab as a 30 W RMS speaker, distributed into 20 W + 10 W.

The system combines two passive radiators, a 16 mm tweeter, and a racetrack-shaped woofer, forming the foundation of the model’s sound performance.

This arrangement, combined with software processing, supports the aim of easily filling small spaces without the need to constantly push the maximum volume.

Battery Life And Recharge Time

Battery life appears as another central point of the product.

According to LG, the XBOOM Grab achieves up to 20 hours of playback under specific conditions, with moderate volume and lighting turned off.

In reported practical use, continuous playback at nearly half volume and LEDs on resulted in just over 16 hours before automatic shutdown.

The result highlights the direct impact of RGB lighting on energy consumption.

In the recharging process, the manufacturer reports around 3 hours to complete charging via USB-C, with a maximum output of 10 W.

In tests with more powerful adapters, the total time fell below the estimated, adhering to the internal management limits of the device itself.

Price In Brazil And Comparison With The JBL Flip 7

Upon launch, the XBOOM Grab entered the Brazilian market with a suggested price of R$ 839.

Currently, the model can already be found in national retail at prices close to R$ 500, depending on the store and ongoing promotions.

Among the main direct competitors, the JBL Flip 7 emerges as an immediate reference.

The rival model also bets on Bluetooth 5.4, artificial intelligence features for sound optimization, and support for Auracast.

While JBL highlights IP68 certification, LG emphasizes military resistance and greater visual customization through integrated lighting.

In practice, the decision tends to depend on each consumer’s priorities.

On one hand, LG reinforces intense bass, customizable lighting, robustness, and app integration.

On the other, JBL bets on the tradition of the Flip line, high protection, and an already established ecosystem.

With a declining price, advanced calibration features, and a focus on portability, the XBOOM Grab competes for the attention of those seeking powerful sound in a compact body, but are willing to accept a steeper learning curve with the app and the absence of Wi-Fi and native voice commands; in daily use, what weighs more in the choice of a portable speaker today?
