What Does a Messperson Do? A messperson is a member of a ship’s crew responsible for performing maintenance, cleaning, and basic operations on board. Their duties include mooring and unmooring the ship, maintaining cables and equipment, painting and cleaning common areas, and assisting in emergencies and rescues. They work under the supervision of officers and experienced sailors, ensuring the safety and efficiency of maritime operations.

Requirements and Qualifications for Messperson

Hold a CIR in the category of MESSPERSON (MOC) or a higher category;
CFAQ – Aquatic Formation Certificate – Rule: II/4;
TBS – Basic Safety Training;
EBCP – Basic Special Training for Ship Awareness and Protection;
International Yellow Fever Vaccination;
COVID-19 Vaccination;
Completed High School
