MAERSK Ensures Its Presence in Brazilian Air Offshore with Omni Helicopters in Santos Basin and Strengthens Its Operations in Oil and Gas with Cutting-Edge Technology.
Omni Táxi Aéreo, a reference in offshore air transportation in Latin America, has just secured a strategic contract with MAERSK, one of the largest global maritime logistics conglomerates. The new partnership marks the beginning of MAERSK’s operations in the offshore helicopter sector in Brazil, initially focusing on the Santos Basin, one of the most strategic regions for national oil and gas.
The contract, announced on April 15, 2025, on the company’s website, will last for nine months and represents the first direct hiring by MAERSK for crew transportation via helicopters in Brazil. This initiative reinforces the group’s offshore logistics expansion and highlights the operational capacity of Omni Táxi Aéreo.
AW139 Helicopter: Technology and Safety in Focus
According to Décio Galvão, commercial director of Omni, the company’s choice is due to its operational safety, modern fleet, and logistical flexibility. The contract includes 14 monthly flights with the AW139 helicopter, a model widely used in offshore aviation, known for its fuel efficiency, high performance, comfort, and operational range.

Santos Basin Is a Priority in Energy Operations
The Santos Basin, where flights will be concentrated, has established itself as one of the most relevant hubs of Brazilian production, especially in the pre-salt. The region hosts various oil platforms, requiring highly qualified air logistics for transporting professionals and cargo.
MAERSK’s entry into this type of air operation in Brazil signals a clear commitment to logistical efficiency, as well as reinforcing the company’s focus on cutting-edge technology and sustainability in its activities. The move aligns with the rising demand for safe aerial solutions in transporting crew and supplies to remote areas.
