Through the Investment in the Plant Project in the Triângulo Mineiro, Thousands of Job Openings Will Be Generated in the Construction Phase of the Enterprise.
With over R$ 1 billion in planned investment, a new plant in the sugar-ethanol sector is being built in Prata, in the Triângulo Mineiro. Designed by a consortium of companies in the sugar and ethanol industry, the plant can generate about 600 direct job openings just during the construction period of the enterprise. Already considered one of the fundamental pillars of the Prata Biotecnologia consortium, the start of operations for the new plant is expected in 2028. The consortium is the result of the merger of three companies, namely: Grupo Queiroz e Queiroz Bioenergia, Usina Boa Esperança, and JP Andrade Agropecuária. The plant will be built in Prata, Triângulo Mineiro, with construction beginning in January 2026.

According to Leandro Andrade, current director of investment attraction at the Minas Gerais State Government’s Investment Promotion Agency, InvestMinas, the energy transition following new trends involves the agribusiness sector and, particularly, the sugar and ethanol industry.
“The state has been consolidating as one of the largest or even the largest producers of sugar and ethanol in Brazil. Since the government signed the Race to Zero – a global program to eliminate carbon emissions – InvestMinas and the state government have been promoting green energy industries, making the attraction of this type of business strategic and a priority,” Andrade emphasized.
New Plant Will Be Modern and Will Contribute to the Regional Agribusiness
Regarding environmental issues, Florencio Queiroz Neto, one of the managers of Prata Biotecnologia, highlighted the high potential of agribusiness in the Triângulo Mineiro region, strengthening the local economy and social development.
“The municipality of Prata will receive a modern, technological, and inclusive industry, producing food and energy sustainably and with social responsibility,” said Queiroz Neto.
The new scenario is very pleasing to Marcel Vieira Rodrigues Rosa, the mayor of Prata. Known as Xexéu (Progressives Party), Rodrigues Rosa emphasized the MEGA INVESTMENT in the new plant in Prata, which will further boost the local economy.
“It’s over R$ 1 billion for our municipality, funding that we believe will improve rural infrastructure and that will make our land produce more. It will also generate more taxes, and we hope it increases the per capita income of the municipality. It’s a chain of situations that tend to improve,” emphasized the mayor of the city of Prata.
Prata Biotecnologia Counts on InvestMinas to Complete the Project
To ensure that the new plant project is completed within the estimated timeframe, the Prata Biotecnologia sugar-ethanol industry consortium is relying on support from InvestMinas to obtain environmental licensing, in addition to negotiations for land for sugarcane planting.
In detail, Leandro Andrade from InvestMinas highlighted: “We have not only mapped the areas that have the potential to receive this type of investment but also provide cross-sectional advisory for all the necessary infrastructure in the state to realize the investment.”
Prata Biotecnologia is also receiving support from the Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais, Cemig, and has requested monitoring of the environmental licensing process at the Secretaria de Estado de Meio Ambiente e Desenvolvimento Sustentável, Semad.
Strategic Location of the City of Prata Facilitates the Construction of a New Plant in the Region
In addition to generating various job openings for the Prata region and involving a MEGA INVESTMENT in its construction, the sugar-ethanol industry consortium chose Prata due to its altitude and also its geological and environmental conditions. Regardless, the city of Prata is prepared to be the ideal place for organizing and logistically accommodating a future distribution point for supplies.
Still highlighting the plant to be built in 2028, Leandro Andrade concluded by saying: “Whether it is for sugarcane, sugar, or fuel, Prata is a strategic point and already has several other industries that have also invested heavily in the region.”
With high potential for creating many job openings, enhancing the local economy, and possibly becoming a future distribution point for supplies, the new plant with MEGA INVESTMENT could positively impact the energy transition that Brazil and the world so eagerly seek.
