Tests carried out by Mercedes-Benz and Be8 confirmed that vehicles powered by 100% biofuel can emit up to 65% less CO₂ compared to those powered by the B15 blend. According to a report released by Agência Eixos this Tuesday (11), the finding represents a significant advancement in the decarbonization of heavy transport in Brazil.

The “Sustainable Route” initiative, led by Mercedes-Benz and Be8, involved two trucks and two buses powered exclusively by BeVant — a 100% biofuel developed by Be8. The vehicles departed from the company’s plant in Passo Fundo (RS) heading to Belém (PA), the venue for COP30.

During the journey of over 3,000 km, the vehicles were monitored in real-time, and the collected data revealed a reduction of up to 65% in carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions compared to similar vehicles powered by the B15 blend. This result reinforces the potential of biofuel vehicles as a viable solution for sustainable transport.

Road Tests Reveal Superior Performance

The tests were conducted under real operating conditions, crossing different regions of Brazil. Emissions measurements were made using onboard equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability of the data. In addition to the significant reduction in CO₂, vehicles powered by 100% biofuel also showed lower emissions of particulate matter and nitrogen oxides (NOx).
