British MG Motor Confirms Return to Brazil with 24 Dealerships and Three Electric Models — MG4, MG S5, and MG Cybester — Betting on Expansion and Technology by 2026.

According to CanalTech, the traditional MG Motor, a British automaker with over a century of history, is preparing its return to Brazil with a bold and modern strategy. The company, which is now owned by the Chinese group SAIC Motor, announced the opening of 24 dealerships by the end of 2025 and launched its official Brazilian website, previewing the first three electric cars that will arrive in the country: the MG4, the MG S5 SUV, and the sporty MG Cybester.

The official announcement comes just weeks after a leak from Inmetro, which revealed the vehicles approved before the brand’s announcement.

A New Phase for MG Motor in Brazil

MG Motor, which had a brief stint in the national market in the early 2010s, is now returning with a focus on electric cars and sustainable technology.

The company follows the trend of Asian automakers gaining strength in the country, such as BYD and GWM, and bets on the growing demand for electrified vehicles.

The brand’s plan is to reach 70 dealerships by 2026, consolidating its presence in Brazilian territory.

Although the official launch date has yet to be announced, recent advancements indicate that the debut should occur soon.

The official website of MG Motor Brazil is already live, showcasing details of the three models and the brand’s proposal to combine modern design, high performance, and sustainability.

MG4: The Electric Hatch Aiming to Win Over the Urban Audience

The MG4 will be the main highlight of MG Motor’s debut in Brazil.

The model is set to compete in the electric hatchback segment, directly challenging the BYD Dolphin.

Measuring 4.39 meters in length, 1.84 m in width, and 2.75 m in wheelbase, the MG4 offers more interior space than its Chinese rival.

MG4

It will be equipped with a 64 kWh battery, capable of delivering a range of up to 364 km, according to Inmetro data.

The hatch may be offered in versions with rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The most powerful version can reach 435 hp of combined power, while the entry-level versions are expected to generate around 163 hp.

The aim is to combine sporty performance and energy efficiency in a 100% electric vehicle.

MG S5: Electric SUV Focused on Comfort and Technology

The MG S5 will be the second model to launch in Brazil. It is a medium electric SUV, positioned in one of the most competitive market segments.

It has been registered in two versions: Luxury and Comfort, both equipped with a 62 kWh battery and a range of up to 351 km.

MG S5

The options should vary between 170 hp and 245 hp of power, balancing performance and efficient consumption.

The MG S5 is set to compete against rivals such as BYD Yuan Plus and GWM Haval H6, betting on an elegant design and refined finishing.

MG Cybester: The Electric Sports Car That Promises Impressive Performance

Closing the trio of launches, the MG Cybester will be the most powerful and exclusive model from the brand in Brazil.

The sporty convertible features futuristic design and cutting-edge technology, with a 77 kWh battery and range of 342 km.

MG Cybester

The car features two electric motors, one on each axle, that together deliver 544 hp of power and 73.9 kgfm of torque.

With this configuration, the Cybester accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds, according to MG Motor.

The model aims to compete with luxury electric sports cars, such as the BYD Seal.

Expansion of MG Motor

With the support of SAIC Motor, one of the largest manufacturers in China, MG Motor arrives in Brazil with the goal of building a solid foundation for growth in the electric vehicle segment.

The plan for expanding dealerships and launching modern models shows that the company intends to compete on equal footing with the established major brands.

If it meets the timeline by 2026, MG Motor could become one of the references in electric mobility in Brazil, reinforcing the country’s transition toward a cleaner and more technological automotive future.
