Various Distribution Centers Are Concentrated in Minas Gerais. The City of Extrema Has More Than 150 Companies in the E-commerce Sector Installed

With a great demand for sports materials recorded since September this year, it indicated significant revenue and job creation for the e-commerce sector. Most of the companies established or that recently expanded their businesses in the state of Minas Gerais received support from the Investment and Foreign Trade Promotion Agency of Minas Gerais (Indi). Various jobs and investments were generated with the construction or expansion of new distribution centers in the state. Job and Income Generation in the State of Minas Gerais

The Director of Investment Attraction at Indi, Adriano Carvalho, says that “Minas Gerais is close to major consumer centers and has the largest road network in the country, which gives us a significant logistical advantage. Added to this is an attractive tax regime from the Government of Minas, which offers benefits for companies that sell their products within the state.”

Located in the e-commerce hub of Extrema, South Minas Gerais, InfraComerce distributes products for the American giant Nike and other sports material companies. Only in the first half of September, the enterprise recorded an increase of about 15% in demand and is preparing for an even higher spike in the coming months.

Helena Costa, the Senior E-commerce Manager at Infracommerce, emphasizes that “There is an increase not only in material infrastructure to accommodate the growth of inventory but also in the workforce. In September, we increased the number of vacancies by 50% at the distribution center in Extrema, preparing for the growing demand not only this month but also in the coming months. In October, we expect an average increase of 60% in inventory. This growth incurs not only logistical costs (for sorting, packing, and controls) but also in hiring support staff, supplies, carriers, and throughout the operational chain.”

Recently, Infracommerce Built a New Distribution Center in Minas

Infracommerce, the company responsible for the e-commerce operations of giants like Nike, Ambev, Unilever, Motorola, Ray-Ban, and other national and international brands, has just begun activities in Extrema, in South Minas Gerais. The inauguration of the distribution center (DC) will generate about 300 direct jobs, potentially reaching over 500 during the Black Friday commercial event.

According to him, the choice of Extrema in the state of Minas Gerais was made due to a combination of factors such as strategic location, as the city is close to major consumer centers, the existence of tax incentives for some clients, which helps in the feasibility of operations, and the fact that Minas Gerais represents the third-largest consumption hub among the company’s 260 clients.

Although it is being inaugurated, the distribution center has been in operation since early July. The preparation of the facilities began in April. The unit in Minas Gerais will generate about 300 direct jobs, potentially reaching over 500 during Black Friday, in addition to boosting the local economy with hundreds of indirect vacancies, according to the Vice President of Operations.

Through the Investment and Foreign Trade Promotion Agency of Minas Gerais (Indi), the MG government announced that it has attracted another major investment for the South of the state: the third-largest logistics center in the country, the BWP Business Park – Extrema. The initiative will involve R$ 750 million and generate 6,500 direct jobs. Two logistics parks for e-commerce will be established, totaling eight warehouses constructed over 400 thousand square meters of Gross Leasable Area (GLA), which corresponds to 38 soccer fields.

The two condominiums that will house the enterprises are under construction. The first warehouse of Project 1 will be delivered later this month, and the warehouses of Project 2 will be completed by mid-2022. The formalization protocol of the investment has been signed, and the project is underway, reaffirming the commitment of the Government of Minas Gerais to the resumption of economic development in the state.
