The Electric Truck That Began Production Was Tested in Texas Before Being Presented to the North American Public
AYRO, a manufacturer of mini electric trucks based in Round Rock, Texas, recently announced the start of production at its local factory. The company’s first vehicle, called AYRO Vanish, is a truck utility electric with a modular design intended for a wide range of urban uses. This milestone represents a significant step for AYRO in the growing electric vehicle (EV) market.
The company has initiated low-rate initial production (LRIP) of the truck, which involves limited production designed to validate the efficiency of the production processes and systems used to build the Vanish. During this phase, training, tools, processes, and quality measures are being evaluated on the production line. AYRO’s CEO, Tom Wittenschlaeger, emphasized the importance of this milestone:
“We believe that the adherence to LRIP for the Vanish truck is an important milestone for AYRO. Within a few weeks, we expect to be able to deliver the first vehicles to our dealers and partners so that they can begin to show and sell the Vanish beyond the pre-orders.”

Positive Acceptance of Electric Vehicle Pre-Orders
AYRO opened pre-orders for the Vanish electric vehicle in May, with a deposit of US$ 250 made through AYRO’s online configurator securing a spot in line for the US$ 33,900 vehicle. The market response to the truck’s pre-orders has been positive, demonstrating consumer interest in affordable urban electric vehicles.
Last month, AYRO completed the certification process to allow the Vanish truck to circulate on the streets of the United States and Canada. Certification is a necessary procedure to verify that a new vehicle meets established vehicle regulations. In the United States, the AYRO Vanish has been certified according to low-speed vehicle (LSV) standards set forth in the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, as required by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. In Canada, very similar regulations established in the Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards were followed.
Adaptable Design for Urban Use
The AYRO Vanish truck is designed with versatility in mind. It features a “common core chassis” that serves as the compact base of the vehicle. However, various configurations are available to meet specific utility purposes. For instance, buyers can equip the Vanish with a fold-down tailgate and side doors to make it resemble a pickup truck. There is also the option of a closed cargo space, transforming it into a mini box truck or electric van.
The low bed height makes the truck ideal for loading and unloading, and its compact size is better suited for congested urban areas. This makes the Vanish perfect for use cases such as freight delivery and local utility services in busy cities.
Although the AYRO Vanish is not a complete replacement for larger trucks in all scenarios, it offers a more appropriate choice for densely populated cities where larger vehicles may struggle to navigate. With its affordable price and adaptable design, the Vanish has the potential to revolutionize electric urban mobility.
