Model Got Out Of The Production Lines In 2024, But Maintains High Demand Among Used Car Buyers Seeking Reliability, Efficient Performance, And Good Cost-Effectiveness In Compact Automatic Cars.

Even after production ended in December 2024, the Toyota Yaris 1.5 CVT continues to have strong demand in the used car market in Brazil.

The model, offered in hatch and sedan versions, has built a loyal following due to the Japanese brand’s reputation for reliability, efficient mechanical setup, and the offering of equipment that stands out among compact automatics.

The Toyota factory, located in Sorocaba, interior of São Paulo, officially ended the assembly of the national Yaris on December 31, 2024.

This decision is part of a strategic change by the automaker, which has begun to prioritize the launch of the Toyota Yaris Cross, a compact sports utility vehicle with a hybrid engine and CVT automatic transmission, scheduled to arrive in the country in October 2025.

Despite this transition, the exit of the traditional Yaris from the assembly lines has not diminished its presence in used car dealerships nor devalued the model, which maintains liquidity and buyer interest.

Toyota Yaris 1.5 CVT: Why Is It Still So Sought After?

The continued search for the Toyota Yaris 1.5 CVT among used cars is due to several factors.

The 1.5 flex engine from the Dual VVT-i family, capable of delivering up to 110 horsepower with ethanol and 105 horsepower with gasoline, combined with the CVT Multidrive automatic transmission, provides agile performance in urban traffic and safety in highway acceleration.

The maximum torque of 14.9 kgfm contributes to quick responses, while the fuel consumption remains among the most competitive in the category, achieving averages above 12 km/l in the city and nearly 16 km/l on the highway.

Another highlight is the mechanical robustness, a tradition of Toyota.

The CVT, manufactured by the Japanese Aisin, simulates up to seven gears and provides smooth shifts, in addition to offering paddle shifters in the top trim versions, giving the model a more enjoyable driving experience similar to higher-category cars.

Equipment, Valued Versions, And Resale Value

Among the most sought-after equipment, the XLS version of the Toyota Yaris offers features such as sSunroof, seven airbags, full LED headlights, rain sensor, chrome handles, and multimedia center.

It is important to note that models manufactured until 2019 do not come with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration, features that only began to equip the Yaris from 2020 onwards.

Safety has always been a priority, with electronic stability and traction controls in all configurations.

The predictability in maintenance also weighs in buyers’ decisions.

Affordably priced services, wide availability of parts, and a well-established authorized network reinforce the Yaris’ reputation as a low-cost ownership vehicle with easy resale.

This combination of factors causes the more complete versions, such as the XLS, to reach prices between R$ 80 thousand and R$ 110 thousand at the beginning of the second half of 2025.

Sales Numbers And Audience Profile

The trajectory of the Toyota Yaris 1.5 CVT in Brazil is marked by impressive numbers.

Since its debut in 2018, the model has totaled more than 280 thousand units sold by November 2024, with the hatch accounting for about 152 thousand registrations and the sedan totaling approximately 129 thousand.

Until the end of production, the compact maintained averages of 2 thousand units licensed per month, evidencing acceptance above average for vehicles in the segment.

This performance is directly related to the profile of buyers seeking:

  • First or second automatic car, for the practicality and safety in urban displacement.
  • Reliable after-sales tradition of Toyota.
  • Durable car with good value stability.

For those looking for a durable car with good value stability, the Yaris proves to be one of the leading names in its category.

Points Of Attention When Acquiring A Used Toyota Yaris

When evaluating a Toyota Yaris 1.5 CVT used car, it is important to observe some aspects:

  • The multimedia center of models up to 2019 does not offer smartphone integration, which may weigh on the choice for more connected users.
  • Regarding interior finishing, heavy use may accentuate wear on hard plastics and coverings, although the assembly is recognized as above average.
  • On the mechanical aspect, it is recommended to always check the service history, prioritizing units that underwent services at the authorized network, especially regarding items such as spark plugs, filters, and fluids.

This attention contributes to preserving performance and avoiding unexpected costs.

Future Of The Yaris Line And The New Yaris Cross

With the arrival of the Toyota Yaris Cross in Brazil, the automaker bets on the consolidation of the compact hybrid SUV segment, responding to the growing demand for more efficient and sustainable vehicles.

The new model assumes a position of technological leadership, while the Yaris hatch and sedan, now out of production, reinforces its status as a modern classic, combining comfort, technology, and mechanical reliability — attributes that continue to attract interest in the used car market.

The current scenario shows that, even without local manufacturing, the Toyota Yaris 1.5 CVT preserves its space as a benchmark among compact automatics.

The combination of Japanese reliability, good performance, and everyday practicality remains relevant for those prioritizing safety and peace of mind when buying a used vehicle.

And you, do you consider the reputation for Japanese durability a decisive factor when choosing a used car, or do you believe other attributes should weigh more in this choice?
