"It is worth remembering that the peak of the company's investments reaches 2.300 jobs, with 56% of the local community", says Wellington.

A companhia already invested R$ 1,4 billion in the construction of a solar park in São Gonçalo do Gurguéia, in Piauí. The plant was inaugurated at the end of 2019 and will produce 475 MW.
The plant will be expanded and, when fully operational, will generate enough energy to supply more than 820 homes. The panels capture sunlight on both sides, which increases power generation by up to 18%.
– Brazil has advanced a lot. Auctions are competitive, contracts are long-term, solar incidence is among the most competitive in the world, and technological evolution and the drop in panel prices have helped a lot – says Roberta Bonomi, responsible for Enel Green Power do Brasil
According to government plans, solar energy will represent, in ten years, 8% of the country's energy matrix.
Solar energy represents just over 1% of the country's energy matrix. But that slice will jump to 8% in ten years, according to the government's plan. Investments to support the goal are already underway, according to specialists. In large solar plants alone, BRL 9,5 billion are planned for projects by 2025.
The volume of solar energy that the government expects to include in the energy matrix – 7 gigawatts (GW) – is enough to supply more than 3,6 million homes.
While distributed generation awaits new rules from Aneel, the regulatory agency, and from Congress, large plants are advancing. According to the consultancy Greener, specialized in solar energy, the R$ 9,5 billion that must be invested in new plants only consider undertakings already contracted in auctions. At least another R$ 10,6 billion were invested until 2019.
– Total investments do not include the next auctions that Aneel should hold. Therefore, the total until 2025 will be higher - says Márcio Takata, president of Greener.
Large solar plants took a leap in Brazil between 2014 and 2019. There are 90 in operation, especially in the Northeast Region, where states like Bahia, Ceará and Piauí stand out. But there is growth in the Southeast. Minas Gerais is the state where this source most advances, followed by São Paulo.
