France's Total licensed five oil wells in the Campos Basin today

The French oil company Total began on the 18th, the environmental licensing of 5 oil wells in the pre-salt of the Campos Basin. The wells licensed from Ibama by Total are part of exploratory block CM-541.

The concession contract for the area was signed by the French company last Friday (14th) with the National Petroleum Agency (ANP).

Total is a partner of the Brazilian state-owned Petrobras and the oil companies Shell, CNPC and CNOOC in the Mero project, the first production sharing area in the country.

The French company is also the operator of the Lapa field, an area under concession in the Santos Basin pre-salt acquired in the Petrobras divestment and partnership program.
