Multinational Alcoa Resumes Aluminum Production Line at Its Plant and Calls for 450 Job Openings for Reduction Operator Positions on February 10

Alumar, part of the Alcoa Group, is investing almost R$ 1 billion and reactivating another aluminum production line at its factory in Maranhão. To meet new demand, the company is offering 450 job openings for high school candidates in the role of Reduction Operator. See below how to submit your resume.

Alumar’s director Helder Teixeira stated that with the opening of the new line, the multinational will produce 447,000 tons of aluminum by the first quarter of 2023.

In total, more than 2,300 direct job openings will be created with the resumption of the new production line.

As a member of the Reduction Operation team at Alumar (Alcoa Unit in São Luís-MA), the Reduction Operator will be responsible for performing routine tasks in operating industrial equipment, cleaning, and organizing the area, operating all activities according to the area of expertise, such as:

• Bath Room; 
• Electrodes;
• Ingot Casting;
• Alumina, Bath, and Compressors (ABC).

Requirements:

• Education: Completed High School;
• Preferred: Having participated in an Operator Training Program at Alumar, e.g., Young Apprentice (OPMA) and/or knowledge/experience in reduction operation;
• Knowledge of ABS (Alcoa Business System), TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), and EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) fundamentals;
• Availability to work in shift and/or administrative hours;
