With Investment of Over R$ 220 Million, FUCHS’ New Lubricants Factory Promises to Double National Participation and Meet Growing Regional Demand.
The German multinational FUCHS, a global leader in lubricant production, is taking a decisive step towards expansion in Brazil and Latin America. The company is in the advanced phase of the construction of a new factory in Sorocaba (SP), where the administrative offices have already started operating.
The project, with production expected to begin in the first half of 2025, represents a robust investment that exceeds R$ 220 million in the first phase.
The goal is clear: to double its share in the competitive Brazilian market and to expand its operations in neighboring countries.

Espírito Santo will receive the largest engineering project in its history with the duplication of BR 262, which will have 50 viaducts, 28 bridges, and 2-kilometer tunnels cutting through the most challenging mountainous region of the entire state.
This move is part of a long-term strategy by FUCHS, which sees Brazil as a market with high growth potential, especially in segments like automotive, industrial, agricultural, and mining.
FUCHS’ New Factory Will Have State-of-the-Art Infrastructure
The new FUCHS factory is being built on a plot of nearly 89,000 m², with a built area that will exceed 19,500 m² by the end of the project.
In comparison with the current Barueri plant, which has 3,860 m², the new structure will be about five times larger, reflecting the company’s ambition to scale its operations.
The plant will feature automated systems and modern quality control equipment, in addition to a tank park with a capacity of 3,600 m³.
The space has been designed to accommodate the complete production of the company’s lubricants line, which includes over 700 products aimed at various sectors of the economy.
The construction schedule is divided into well-defined phases. The first structure, with more than 5,000 m², has been operational since 2022, functioning as a warehouse and distribution center.
In 2024, the offices will start operating on site, and in 2025, the first filling and labeling lines are expected to go into operation.
Following that, the construction of two more buildings is planned: one dedicated to the production of industrial and automotive lubricants, with inauguration expected by the end of 2026, and another focused on the manufacturing of greases, food industry products, and release agents.
There will also be a specific area for flammable substances.
The total completion of the complex is expected by 2030, when the unit will reach its maximum production capacity of over 50,000 tons annually.
Brazil as a Strategic Focus for FUCHS
For the company, Brazil holds a prominent position within the global expansion plan.
Currently, the country represents one of the top ten markets for FUCHS worldwide and has shown a growing demand for high-performance solutions.
“Brazil has enormous potential for FUCHS’s growth, and we are focused on expanding our presence in strategic segments, such as the food industry, which requires increasingly efficient, safe, and sustainable special solutions. With the new plant, it will be possible to solidify our operations and better serve not only our partners in Brazil but also expanding markets in Latin America,” says Antonio Oliveira, General Director of FUCHS Lubricants in Brazil.
Economic Impact and Job Creation with FUCHS’ New Factory
In addition to technological advancements and increased production capacity, the new unit will have a direct impact on the job market in the region.
By the end of 2024, the plant already had 120 direct employees and around 30 indirect employees.
With the ongoing expansion, the expectation is that this number will exceed 150 direct jobs by the conclusion of the first phase.
The project also strengthens the local supply chain and boosts the economy of Sorocaba and neighboring municipalities, consolidating the city as a strategic industrial hub.
The decision to build the new factory in Sorocaba was driven by logistical factors.
The city has easy access to the main highways in the state of São Paulo and is close to important consumption and distribution centers.
The operation of the distribution center, which began in 2022, has already yielded considerable gains: 67% of deliveries made in 2024 occurred within a day or less, according to the company’s own data.
Sustainability at the Core of the Project
The project for the new factory was developed with a focus on sustainable practices. The unit will feature:
- Solar energy generation;
- Reuse of industrial water;
- Effluent treatment;
- Low carbon emissions in heating systems;
- High energy efficiency lighting and air conditioning.
FUCHS has also implemented a reforestation plan, planting 1,400 native trees in the region, involving its employees in local environmental actions.
The new factory is aligned with the company’s global program to neutralize carbon emissions.
“One of the company’s main goals is to build a plant that meets safety standards, especially regarding fire safety and environmental protection, thus achieving zero carbon emissions,” emphasizes Antonio Oliveira.
With over 50 years of operation in Brazil, FUCHS is determined to consolidate its leadership position, now with a structure prepared to respond to the challenges of the present and the future.
