Alibaba Launched AI Qwen 2.5, An Advanced Model That Promises to Outperform Competitors Like DeepSeek and ChatGPT!

Alibaba, the Chinese e-commerce and technology giant, has taken a significant step in the artificial intelligence (AI) market by announcing the launch of its new AI version, Qwen 2.5.

The news is still in the testing phase and has generated great expectations in the tech sector, primarily because it promises to surpass renowned competitors like the Chinese AI DeepSeek and other tools from major companies such as ChatGPT, Gemini Google, and Meta AI.

The Qwen 2.5 model is considered a significant advancement and could change the landscape of AIs in the global market.

The Advancement of Qwen 2.5

With the arrival of Qwen 2.5-VL, Alibaba aims to compete directly with the largest AI powers by demonstrating superior performance in essential industry benchmarks.

The more advanced version, Qwen 2.5-VL, is capable of performing complex tasks such as analyzing files, understanding videos, describing images, and even controlling a PC, features that are similar to OpenAI’s Operator, which was recently launched alongside ChatGPT.

In addition to these innovative features, the new AI stands out for its ability to analyze charts, extract data from documents and forms, and comprehend long-duration videos, making it an extremely versatile tool for various applications.

Although the model has not been finalized and is still available only for testing, its impact can already be felt by those who had early access, such as users of Alibaba’s Qwen Chat and developers on the Hugging Face platform.

Comparisons with DeepSeek and Other Competitors

The announcement of Qwen 2.5 came shortly after the success of the AI DeepSeek, which gained notoriety by releasing a highly competitive chatbot at a significantly lower cost compared to its competitors.

Additionally, DeepSeek became the most downloaded app on iPhones in the United States and Brazil.

However, experts highlight that while DeepSeek has attracted attention, Qwen 2.5-VL stands out with more advanced technical features.

Alibaba’s AI not only surpasses DeepSeek in crucial benchmarks but also positions Qwen 2.5-VL as a strong contender to compete with major market players like OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini, and Meta’s solutions.

Thus, Qwen 2.5 aims to establish itself as a robust and innovative alternative in the race for AI market dominance.

Regulatory Aspects and Government Control

As is common with technologies developed in China, Qwen 2.5 is also subject to strict regulatory oversight from the Chinese government.

Similar to the case with DeepSeek, Qwen 2.5-VL does not answer questions about China and avoids sharing results favorable to Xi Jinping’s government, a common guideline among AIs developed by Chinese companies.

The Chinese government closely monitors the development of these technologies to ensure they do not violate local norms and restrictions.

This may be a limiting factor for the use of certain features outside of China, but it does not impede the model’s growth in international markets.

Licensing and Availability of the AI

The two smaller models in the Qwen 2.5-VL series, Qwen 2.5-VL-3B and Qwen 2.5-VL-7B, are available under an open license.

This allows companies and developers to experiment with and utilize these versions more accessibly.

However, the top model, Qwen 2.5-VL-72B, is available under a customized license, which requires companies with over 100 million monthly active users to seek authorization from Alibaba before implementing the model commercially.

This licensing approach may be a strategy by Alibaba to maintain control over the commercial use of its most advanced AI, ensuring that only large companies or authorized developers can integrate it into commercial products.

The launch of the new AI by Alibaba marks a crucial moment in the artificial intelligence market, with the Chinese giant positioning its new tool as one of the most promising today.

With advanced capabilities and the promise to surpass powerful competitors like DeepSeek, ChatGPT, and Gemini, Qwen 2.5 has the potential to revolutionize how AIs are applied across different industries.

Although it is still in the testing phase, expectations are that once finalized, Qwen 2.5-VL could represent a new era for AI in the global market, challenging large Western corporations and opening new horizons for technological innovation.

The future of AI is becoming increasingly competitive, and Qwen 2.5 will certainly be among the models that define this future.

Stay tuned for updates on this AI and follow its development in the coming months!
