Good News for Naval Construction! Japanese Modec, Currently with Five FPSOs Under Construction, Estimates to Generate 600 New Jobs in Brazil by 2024
Good news for Brazil’s naval construction, the multinational Modec estimates that by 2024 it will generate 600 new jobs for onshore and offshore areas in the country, an expansion of 25% of its workforce. Modec is hiring Brazilians for positions in Singapore, in the FPSO Guanabara project, as Production Supervisor

The oil multinational currently operates 10 FPSOs in Brazil and is building five more platforms for the Brazilian offshore market.
On its way to Brazil, FPSO Carioca MV30 will be the first unit to enter operation, the floating production unit will produce in the Sépia field, an area of the onerous assignment of the Santos Basin operated by Petrobras.

Also for the pre-salt of the Santos Basin, FPSO Guanabara MV31 is expected to produce its first oil next year in the Mero field, the first production-sharing area in Brazil. Mero is a partnership among Petrobras, Shell, Total, CNOOC, and CNDC, with PPSA managing the Union’s share in the production-sharing contract.
The fifth production unit in the Búzios field, FPSO Almirante Barroso MV32 is expected to commence operations in 2022. The floating production unit will have the capacity to produce 150,000 barrels per day of oil.
FPSO Anita Garibaldi MV33 is also part of the Japanese plans, the unit will integrate the revitalization module for the Marlim field, in deep waters of the Campos Basin, where Petrobras is currently seeking a partner.
With the capacity to produce up to 220,000 barrels of oil per day and 15 million m³/day of natural gas, FPSO Bacalhau will be the last project in the current portfolio to enter operation. Production from the field operated by Equinor, in partnership with ExxonMobil and Petrogal, is expected to start between 2023-2024.

ARMS Reliability secured from the Japanese Modec a contract to assist in the development of the Asset Maintenance Management Philosophy for the FPSO in the Bacalhau field, in the Santos Basin.
