GM Reveals The Wuling Bingo S, Compact Five-Seater Electric SUV, Modern Design, Powerful Engine And Advanced Battery, Targeting Chinese Market And Rivals Like BYD Dolphin.

In the range of R$ 60 thousand, General Motors presents to the Chinese market the Wuling Bingo S, a compact electric SUV with contemporary design, five seats, efficient motorization, and a lithium iron phosphate battery, expanding the competition with models like the BYD Dolphin.

The new model was revealed in June 2025 by SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW), a joint venture composed of General Motors, SAIC Motor Corporation, and Wuling Motors, responsible for leading the market segment of affordable urban electric cars in China.

Launch Of The Compact Electric SUV In The Chinese Market

The Bingo S is presented as an evolution compared to the Bingo Plus, expanding the automaker’s lineup of compact vehicles.

The SUV is scheduled for launch in the second half of 2025, priced between 80,000 and 100,000 yuan, which is equivalent to about R$ 61 thousand to R$ 77 thousand at current exchange rates.

These prices keep the model competitive within the urban electric category, a segment that is rapidly growing in Chinese territory.

Dimensions And Modern Design Of The Wuling Bingo S

According to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China (MIIT), the Wuling Bingo S measures 4,265 mm in length, 1,785 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,610 mm, surpassing the Bingo Plus in size and positioning itself as an alternative for families seeking more interior space without sacrificing economy.

The vehicle weighs 1,325 kg, reinforcing the manufacturer’s commitment to offering a compact yet robust SUV.

The design of the new Wuling Bingo S follows the visual line already known from the Bingo models, with rounded lines, triangular headlights, a trapezoidal front grille with silver details, and a light bar connecting the taillights.

The model also features a two-tone body, darkened pillars to create a floating roof effect, and 16-inch alloy wheels, providing a modern and youthful aesthetic.

The battery charging points are located on the left front fender, facilitating both fast and slow charging.

Electric Motorization And LFP Battery

In terms of motorization, the Bingo S is equipped with a 75 kW electric motor — equivalent to 101 horsepower — powered by a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, known for its durability and safety.

The maximum speed declared by the manufacturer is 150 km/h.

Although there is still no detailed information about the battery capacity or official range, the choice of the LFP system follows a global trend of prioritizing more stable batteries resistant to intense usage cycles, especially in urban vehicles.

Affordable Electric Car Market Grows In China

The strategy of General Motors and its partners in the SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture directly targets the compact electric car segment, one of the fastest-growing in China.

The Chinese market has shown strong acceptance for entry-level electric models.

In 2024, the Wuling Bingo line recorded sales of 236,574 units, representing a 41% increase compared to the previous year.

In May 2025 alone, 17,891 vehicles from the Bingo family were registered, consolidating the brand’s success.

Competition And Differentials Of The Wuling Bingo S

Among the main competitors of the Bingo S in the Chinese market is the BYD Dolphin, a reference in technology and energy efficiency, along with the Geely Geome Xingyuan, which led the ranking of best-selling electric cars in the country in the first five months of 2025, according to market data.

The presence of multiple models with similar proposals highlights the intense competition for consumers who pay attention to price, technology, and sustainability.

The launch of the Bingo S expands Wuling’s portfolio in the realm of affordable electric SUVs, betting on a combination of competitive pricing, current style, and technological features.

The automaker also reaffirms its commitment to innovations in electric mobility, including the expansion of models with LFP batteries, considered more economical and environmentally safe than traditional lithium-ion versions.

Possible Arrival In Brazil And Impact On The Segment

Even without official confirmation about exportation to other markets, General Motors’ recent move to adapt vehicles from the joint venture for different countries, such as the Chevrolet Spark EUV and the Captiva EV, suggests that the Bingo S may be rebranded in the future to serve markets beyond China.

If launched in Brazil, the SUV could compete directly with urban electric vehicles sold locally, such as the BYD Yuan Pro, offering a starting price below the average practiced in the country for similar models.

For Brazilian consumers, the possibility of a compact electric SUV priced around R$ 60 thousand represents a leap in accessibility compared to the more expensive electric vehicles available in the national market.

The trend of electrification is advancing globally, and with the arrival of cheaper options, expectations for vehicles with good autonomy, embedded technology, and simplified maintenance grow, elements increasingly valued by urban drivers.

Sustainability And Target Audience Of The Compact Electric SUV

The presence of a lithium iron phosphate battery in the Bingo S reinforces the focus on sustainability and cost reduction, as this type of battery has a lower environmental impact and longer lifespan, catering to those looking for long-term savings.

The interest in technological solutions and the visual appeal of the SUV also position the model as a potential standout among young people and families in large cities, who seek innovation, style, and practicality.

While the official debut is confirmed only for the Chinese market, expectations for possible international expansions remain high, especially in light of the growth of the electric car segment in Brazil and Latin America.

The question remains: in light of the growth of affordable electric vehicles abroad, would the Brazilian consumer be ready to welcome an electric SUV with a competitive pricing proposition like the Wuling Bingo S?
