Cearense Creates Product That Increases Energy Efficiency in Solar Panels; NASA Noticed
A Cearense from Acaracuzinho, Ismael Mendes, created a revolutionary product that could change the game for solar energy. With a formula that mixes micro and nanotechnology, his TOPSUN product increases the energy efficiency of solar panels by up to 10%, using very little water. And the cherry on top? NASA is keeping an eye on this innovation.
Imagine you have a solar panel at home or at work. Over time, dust and dirt accumulate, causing the panels to generate less energy and even heat up more. It was by observing this situation that Ismael, a self-taught 43-year-old, decided to dedicate himself to creating a solution. He developed TOPSUN, a product that cleans solar panels with less than 50 ml of water and, on top of that, ensures that the surface stays smooth, without accumulating dust for up to 90 days.
NASA Noticed the Cearense’s Invention for Solar Panels
Ismael’s invention not only caught the attention of various companies in Brazil, but also sparked the interest of NASA. And it’s no wonder! The space agency is testing the product to possibly apply the technology in their spacecraft. After all, in space, the efficiency of solar panels is crucial, as they are the only power source for probes and vehicles.

But this journey wasn’t easy. Ismael spent three years dedicated to studies until he realized he was on the right track. It was then that he sought support from the Federal University of Piauí, where he found an Electrical Engineering team that helped scientifically prove the effectiveness of TOPSUN.

Reduces the Temperature of Solar Panels by Up to 8°C
The main advantage of the product is its ability to clean efficiently with very little water, which is a significant advancement, especially in regions where water is scarce, such as in the interior Northeast, Dubai, or even in space missions like on the Moon and Mars. TOPSUN not only cleans but also reduces the temperature of solar panels by up to 8°C, which further increases energy generation efficiency.
Creator of the Best Sustainability Product
It’s no surprise that in 2023, Ismael was awarded at the Future Innovation Summit in Dubai as the creator of the best sustainability product. And this is just the beginning! With industrial-scale production planned for the Pecém Complex in Ceará, TOPSUN promises to reach the global market soon.
The news that NASA is interested in the product is a great pride for all of us. After all, seeing a Brazilian gain international recognition with such a relevant innovation is cause for celebration. Now, we just have to wait to see how far this story will go!
Ismael Mendes’s invention not only improves the efficiency of solar panels but also shows the Brazilian potential to create solutions for global problems. And with NASA on the radar, the sky, or rather, space, is the limit!
