An Abandoned Ship Drifting in the Open Sea Was Sighted by Matt Rutherford During a Scientific Expedition in the Bermuda Triangle. The Navigator, Famous for His Extreme Journey Around the Americas, Recorded It All in an Impressive Film That Raises Even More Questions About the Mysteries of This Enigmatic Region. What Really Happened?

The ocean hides mysteries that challenge logic, and few know this as well as Matt Rutherford. In 2011, this solo sailor faced what many would call a suicidal mission: circumnavigating the Americas alone in a boat only 8 meters long. The journey was an extreme test of endurance and bravery, but, look, that wasn’t his most unsettling experience at sea. Two years later, in 2013, while participating in a scientific expedition, he came across a ghost ship in the Bermuda Triangle – and it was all captured on chilling footage.

The Amazing Journey of Matt Rutherford

In June 2011, Rutherford set sail from Chesapeake Bay in the United States, with a clear goal: to circumnavigate the American continent without stops. He faced intense cold in the Northwest Passage, brutal storms at Cape Horn, and the extreme loneliness of sailing for nearly a year without stepping on dry land. His sailboat, small and lacking luxuries, required constant maintenance and strict attention to avoid fatal failures.

By the end of the journey, he not only survived and found a ghost ship, but also made history by achieving two Guinness World Records: the first solo non-stop circumnavigation of the Americas and the smallest vessel to cross the Northwest Passage. Rutherford proved that, even in the face of extreme risks, courage and determination can lead to the unattainable.

The Nightmare of the Northwest Passage

If his return to the American continent was an impressive feat, crossing the Northwest Passage was a true nightmare. This Arctic route, filled with ice and unstable even for the most modern boats, brought Rutherford to the brink of failure. In one of the most tense moments of his journey, he found himself surrounded by icebergs, with no safe space to maneuver. A simple mistake could have meant his end.

Experienced sailors called his adventure madness, but Rutherford, driven by persistence, overcame the challenge and wrote his name in the history of navigation.

The Encounter with the Ghost Ship in the Bermuda Triangle

Rutherford boarded and discovered that the vessel belonged to a sailor who had been rescued after an emergency, leaving the boat adrift. He attempted to tow it to shore, but the operation failed, and the ship was lost again in the ocean.

In 2013, two years after his historic journey, Rutherford became involved in a new mystery. During a scientific expedition with the Ocean Research Project, he and his team were sailing through the Bermuda Triangle when they spotted an abandoned boat, drifting aimlessly.

The image of the vessel, solitary on the vast ocean, was haunting. No crew, no signs of life. The boat appeared to have been abandoned abruptly. Many would have avoided approaching, but Rutherford, accustomed to challenges, decided to investigate.

Upon boarding the ghost ship, Rutherford realized that the vessel belonged to a sailor who had been rescued after an emergency, leaving the boat adrift. Despite the poor conditions, he attempted to tow it to shore, but the operation failed. The boat was lost again in the ocean, becoming yet another unresolved enigma of the Bermuda Triangle. Is it still wandering out there?
