XBRI Pneus Announces Billion-Dollar Investment in New Venture. This Is a New Factory in Paraná That Will Be Responsible for Creating Thousands of New Jobs and Promises to Boost the National Economy.

XBRI Pneus, a Brazilian brand of the Chinese group Sunset Tires, will build its new tire factory in Brazil, in Ponta Grossa (PR), which promises to be the largest in the country. The plant, which will receive a billion-dollar investment and promises to create thousands of new jobs, will be the company’s first in the country, with a capacity to produce up to 14.5 million tires annually. This volume will include 12 million units for passenger cars and 2.5 million for trucks, buses, agricultural machinery, and mining vehicles.

New XBRI Pneus Factory Will Receive a Billion-Dollar Investment of R$ 1.5 Billion

XBRI Pneus announced the construction of its new factory on December 12, during a hearing in Brasília (DF) with the Vice President of the Republic and Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, Geraldo Alckmin.

The venture, responsible for job creation, will represent an initial investment of R$ 1.5 billion and will cover more than 500,000 square meters of manufacturing area, on a 330-hectare plot of land.

According to Sunset Tires, the new XBRI Pneus factory will primarily serve the Brazilian replacement market and the national automotive industry. The unit will also export products to the United States and Europe. Additionally, the plant located in Ponta Grossa will feature a research and development center.

According to Sunset Tires CEO Nabil Chamseddine, with the new factory, besides job creation, the company will nationalize technologies currently dominated only by foreign companies, creating a true “Rubber School” in Brazil. Furthermore, the investment project will incorporate the latest advancements in the sector, with a strong focus on sustainability through the recycling of products and reuse of water used in the production process.

With the capacity to produce 14 million tires per year, the plant in Ponta Grossa could quadruple the supply of XBRI Pneus products in the country.

In 2023, the company sold about 3.5 million tires in the domestic market, with estimated revenue of R$ 4.5 billion at retail, according to Sunset Tires. This year, the company expects a 20% growth. Currently, the company imports the products it sells in Brazil from Asia.

According to Samer Nasser, Director of Institutional Relations at Sunset Tires, today the costs for production, logistics, and taxes for importing from its factories in Asia are already comparable to production in Brazil. Therefore, the company believes the time has come to make this investment.

Investment with 100% National Capital

XBRI Pneus, which is 100% nationally funded, focuses on research and innovation to develop a genuinely Brazilian tire industry. This investment will also focus on creating direct and indirect jobs, reflecting the company’s commitment to national economic growth and development.

According to Chamseddine, by investing in the brand’s growth in Brazil, the company reaffirms its commitment to the country’s economic development and to offering high-quality products at competitive prices.

The executive also emphasizes that the brand is prepared to overcome challenges and continue growing, benefiting consumers and boosting the economy. In a social responsibility action, XBRI Pneus renewed, for the fourth consecutive year, its partnership with the Ayrton Senna Institute. This collaboration allocates a percentage of sales to educational initiatives that promote development opportunities for children and youth through education.
