Coamo Opens New Feed Factory and Invests R$ 1.7 Billion in Ethanol Plant Construction, Creating 500 New Jobs.
The Coamo opened a new feed factory in Campo Mourão, in the Midwest region of Paraná. The event was attended by Governor Carlos Massa Ratinho Junior, who highlighted the importance of the investment for the economic development of the region. The new plant, intended for the production of feed for various types of animals, had an investment of R$ 178 million. In addition to this investment, another is on the way and is expected to generate many jobs in the region.
New Facilities and Future Coamo Project
In addition to the feed factory, Coamo is preparing to start construction of a corn ethanol plant, with a significant investment of R$ 1.7 billion.
This new industry will have the capacity to produce 258 million liters of biofuel per year.

From empty land to a high-end house, wooden construction uses a lightweight system, metal structure for the foundation, ventilated ceramic cladding, and special windows to create an efficient and comfortable living space throughout the year.
With these ventures, the cooperative aims to increase the industrialization of corn produced by its members, adding value to local agricultural production.
With the inauguration of the new factories, Coamo expects to create approximately 500 direct jobs.
This development is seen as an important step towards strengthening the regional economy.
Governor Ratinho Junior emphasized that such investments are crucial to consolidating Paraná as one of Brazil’s main agricultural producers and contributing to job creation in the state.
Ratinho Junior emphasized that “we have reached the highest number of signed work permits in Paraná’s history” and that Paraná’s cooperatives, such as Coamo, play a significant role in this process.
He also highlighted the importance of transforming agricultural production into higher value-added products, such as ethanol and feed, which helps develop the interior of the state.
Coamo Industrial Park
Currently, Coamo’s industrial park has several facilities, including three soybean crushing plants, two soybean oil refineries, two wheat mills, a fats and margarines factory, a cotton spinning mill, and a coffee roasting plant.
With the addition of the new factories, the number of employees on-site is expected to increase to around 1,700 people.
The new feed factory has a constructed area of 6,000 square meters and a production capacity of 200,000 tons per year.
Coamo used modern equipment, with machines imported from Switzerland, to ensure product quality.
The Chairman of Coamo’s Board of Directors, Aroldo Gallassini, explained that the opening of the feed factory and the planning for the ethanol plant are part of a broader strategy to industrialize corn, which was the last product from its members not processed by the cooperative.
“We are expanding our capacity to add value to what is produced by the members,” said Gallassini.
Currently, about one-third of Coamo’s revenue comes from industrial processes. The cooperative industrializes approximately 47% of what it receives, returning these benefits directly to its members.
Founded in 1970 with just 79 members, Coamo has grown to over 30,000 associates and is now expanding its operations to include corn processing.
Future of the Ethanol Factory
Coamo’s ethanol factory is expected to be inaugurated in the second half of 2026. This will be the first facility in the state to use corn as a raw material for ethanol production.
The new unit will have a production capacity of 765 cubic meters of hydrous ethanol per day, in addition to 510 tons of DDGS (dried distillers grains with solubles) and about 37.4 tons of oil daily.
The plant will also feature a thermoelectric power plant capable of generating 30 MW of electricity, enough to supply the entire Coamo industrial park in Campo Mourão.
Coamo’s President, Airton Galinari, emphasized that the new ethanol plant will be a significant milestone for the cooperative and the biofuel market.
“Part of the corn that was offered as grain will be processed, impacting the price chain and adding value to the product,” said Galinari.
Participation of Authorities
The inauguration ceremony was attended by various authorities, including Lieutenant Governor Darci Piana, state secretaries Norberto Ortigara (Finance), Ricardo Barros (Industry, Commerce and Services), Natalino Avance de Souza (Agriculture and Supply) and Marcio Nunes (Tourism), as well as the Chief of the Military House, Lieutenant Colonel Marcos Tordoro, and the presidents of Invest Paraná, Eduardo Bekin, and Ocepar, José Roberto Ricken.
State Deputy Douglas Fabrício was also present at the event.
