Pickup Battle: New Fiat Strada 1.0 Turbo Leaves Chevrolet Montana 1.2 in the Dust?
The compact pickup war has heated up with the launch of the new Fiat Strada Double Cab 1.0 Turbo 2025 and the Chevrolet Montana 1.2 Turbo 2025. So, which one offers more advantages for those thinking about buying a new pickup?
When it comes to compact pickups, the Fiat Strada has always held a prominent position, especially with the introduction of the double cab version. Now, in 2025, Fiat brings the new Strada Double Cab 1.0 Turbo, promising to maintain this leadership. On the other hand, the Chevrolet Montana arrives with its 1.2 Turbo model, also a double cab, seeking to carve out its space in this competitive market. The question is: which one is worth more?
Engine and Consumption of Fiat Strada and Chevrolet Montana
The Fiat Strada Double Cab 1.0 Turbo 2025 comes equipped with a 1.0 turbo engine producing 130 horsepower and 20.4 kgf.m of torque, paired with a seven-speed CVT. The Chevrolet Montana 1.2 Turbo 2025 features a 1.2 turbo engine with 133 horsepower and 21.4 kgf.m of torque, combined with a six-speed automatic transmission. While the Montana has a slight edge in horsepower and torque, the Strada stands out for having a more efficient power-to-weight ratio, reflected in a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of 9.5 seconds, compared to 10.1 seconds for the Montana.

In addition to the engine, in terms of consumption, the Fiat Strada has the advantage in the city, achieving 8.3 km/l with ethanol and 12 km/l with gasoline. The Montana, on the other hand, delivers 7.7 km/l with ethanol and 11.1 km/l with gasoline in the city. On the highway, both are nearly equivalent, with the Strada recording 9.4 km/l on ethanol and 13.2 km/l on gasoline, while the Montana achieves 9.3 km/l and 13.3 km/l, respectively.
Comfort and Interior Space
If comfort is your focus, the Chevrolet Montana starts to gain points. The rear interior space of the Montana is greater than that of the Fiat Strada, making it more suitable for those with a larger family or those who need to accommodate passengers more comfortably. The Strada, although efficient up front, falls short in the rear space, being cramped and impractical for more than two passengers in the back seat.
Dimensions and Load Capacity
When we look at the dimensions, the Chevrolet Montana also stands out, being longer, wider, and taller than the Fiat Strada. The Montana measures 4.71 meters in length, 2.80 meters in wheelbase, and 1.79 meters in width, while the Strada measures 4.44 meters in length, 2.73 meters in wheelbase, and 1.73 meters in width. Additionally, the Montana has a larger cargo bed, with a capacity of 874 liters compared to the Strada’s 844 liters. However, the Strada is still the preferred choice for heavier work, with a payload capacity of 650 kg, exceeding the Montana’s 600 kg.
The Choice Between Fiat Strada Double Cab 1.0 Turbo 2025 and Chevrolet Montana 1.2 Turbo 2025 Depends a Lot…
Ultimately, the choice between the Fiat Strada Double Cab 1.0 Turbo 2025 and the Chevrolet Montana 1.2 Turbo 2025 depends greatly on your usage profile. If you are looking for a robust pickup, with good performance, fuel efficiency, and do not need much rear space, the Fiat Strada is your best option. It also offers solid after-sales support, better resale value, and stands out in overall sales.
On the other hand, if comfort, interior space, and a slightly more refined design are important to you, the Chevrolet Montana may be the right choice, especially if you have a larger family. Both pickups have their strengths and weaknesses, and it is up to you to decide which one best meets your needs. Either way, both are excellent choices in the compact double cab pickup segment.
