From Powerful Hybrids to Restyled Versions, Manufacturers Bet Big on the Segment’s Growth in Brazil with Launches Ranging from R$ 120,000 to Over R$ 400,000

The market for new pickups in Brazil is about to undergo a historic transformation. In the coming months and years, at least 10 new models — including hybrid versions, restyling of classics, and debuts from foreign brands — are expected to hit the streets and attract an increasingly demanding and diverse audience.

Manufacturers such as Toyota, Hyundai, Volkswagen, Fiat, and Renault already have concrete plans to expand their offerings in the segment, which has grown more than 20% in recent years. The forecast is that these launches will drive sales in the range of R$ 120,000 to R$ 450,000, with proposals ranging from light urban work to off-road luxury.

1. New Volkswagen Amarok (2027)

The VW pickup will feature a platform derived from the Chinese Maxus T90, with a rugged look, full LED headlights, and a likely digital dashboard with vertical multimedia. The engine configuration is still uncertain, but the V6 turbodiesel may be replaced by a new hybrid solution.

2. All-New RAM Mid-Size Pickup (2026)

Stellantis is betting on a new RAM mid-size pickup built on the same platform as the Fiat Titano. It will come with a 2.2 turbodiesel engine with 200 hp, an 8-speed automatic transmission, and premium finishing, aiming to rival the Hilux and S10 in the high-end segment.

3. Hyundai Santa Cruz (Imported)

The Santa Cruz is finally expected to arrive in Brazil with a 2.5 turbo engine with 281 hp and all-wheel drive. The focus is on comfort, connectivity, and modern design, positioning it above the Fiat Toro and close to the Rampage.

4. Volkswagen Udara (2027)

A 100% Brazilian project with a size close to the Chevrolet Montana, the VW Udara will be built on the MQB A0 platform and will feature a 1.5 turbo mild-hybrid engine (48V). A digital dashboard, ADAS package, and modern finishing are confirmed.

5. Toyota Tundra (2025)

The Japanese giant brings to the country its full-size hybrid V6 twin-turbo with 443 hp, a 10-speed automatic transmission, and 4×4 drive. The Toyota Tundra aims to compete directly with the RAM 1500, with a launch expected later this year.

6. Fiat Toro Facelift (2025)

With an updated look, new grille, and elements inspired by the European Fiat Panda, the Toro 2025 will maintain the 1.3 turbo flex (185 hp) and 2.2 turbodiesel (200 hp) engines, but it will bring a mild-hybrid option in 2026.

7. Nissan Frontier Facelift (2025)

The Frontier gains a global facelift with visual and interior improvements, but it retains the 2.3 twin-turbo diesel engine with 190 hp. Highlights include new LED headlights, multimedia center, and updates to the assistance systems.

8. Renault Niagara (2026)

A global model for emerging markets, the Renault Niagara will have dimensions between the Oroch and Toro, with a 1.3 turbo flex engine and CVT transmission. The robust design and improved finishing mark a new phase for the French brand in the pickup segment.

9. Fiat Strada Hybrid (2025)

The leader in the compact segment will gain a 1.0 turbo engine with a mild-hybrid system of 48V, redesigned headlights, and changes to the external appearance. The hybrid Strada promises efficiency and modernity without losing its urban focus.

10. Toyota Hilux Facelift (2026)

The 2026 Hilux will come with a new look, digital dashboard, improvements to the ADAS package, and a 2.8 turbodiesel hybrid engine with an energy generator. The fuel economy is expected to improve by 10%, maintaining 204 hp of power and 51 kgfm of torque.
