APM Terminals Announces New Regional Organization For The Americas. The New Structure Aims To Better Serve Customers And Maximize The Work Operational Model. The New Corporation Promises To Make The Work Environment Safer.

Last Wednesday, (07/14), APM Terminals, in line with the growth plan “Safer, Better, Bigger,” announced a new organization for the Americas. APM is interacting with five global regions across three regions and aims to improve the customer service process and accelerate operational capacity.

New Organization Is A Result Of A Business Study

The new regional structure is a consequence of a business study that analyzed structure, the logistics chain conditions of global and regional customers, and identified how to better meet their future demands regarding operations. Some of these include: schedule changes, berthing windows, terminal yard needs, truck docks, land transport flows, empty equipment flows, and business continuity plans.

According to APM Terminals, the Covid-19 pandemic proved that customers want to seize market opportunities more quickly, as well as how to deal with market changes more agilely, as consumer purchasing patterns are also changing.

The new regions are the Americas, Africa/Europe, and Asia-Pacific. By combining the entire scope of the Americas, APM Terminals will be better positioned to effectively serve East/West, North/South trades, and land supply chains.

“We want to continuously improve the way we work, and this more integrated approach to our regional structure in the Americas commercially, operationally, and sustainably allows us to achieve a higher level of performance for customers and in relation to our ESG goals,” says Leo Huisman, current Regional Executive Director of APM Terminals Latin America. Huisman also served as the regional executive director of APM Terminals Europe and brings extensive experience in the industry.
