Airport, Port Terminal and Transport Highway Form Logistics Belt, Supporting New Investments Coming with Incentive Program in Macaé
The city of Macaé gains momentum with economic potential in the new cycle of logistical movement, driven by the permanence of Macaé Airport in the Southeast block of concession from the Ministry of Transport and the progress of licensing for the Port Terminal (TEMPOR). The Development Program Avança Macaé, created by the Executive and currently in the Legislature, combines actions, alongside the imminent prospect of constructing the Transport Highway.
This highway will connect TEMPOR to RJ-168, which is the city’s exit to BR-101. With this, the Transport Highway, the Port Terminal, and the Airport form the logistics belt that supports new investments coming with the incentive program.
According to Dr. Aluízio, the current mayor of the city, the concession of Macaé Airport, along with the public hearing for TEMPOR (which took place yesterday on the 7th) and the preliminary license for Transport Highway, positions the city and region as the largest window for logistical development in the State of Rio de Janeiro. The mayor, in addition to leading protests for job generation since the oil crisis, has also celebrated other anticipations such as reducing royalty charges in mature fields, renewing Repetro, and the bidding rounds for pre and post-salt.

The Transport Highway comes to provide logistical support, for which the licensing process was approved and the start of construction is scheduled for next year (2019), where it will be built on municipal property, funded by private resources. According to the municipal license, the implementation foresees a simple highway with standard elevation and a roadway of about 18,000 meters in length and 14 meters in regular width to be built between the future Logistics and Industrial Complex of Macaé (CLIMA) and the Port Terminal, thus promoting the road connection between these two developments.
The city’s mayor also stated that TEMPOR represents a new logistical scenario for Macaé, coming not only to meet the demands of the oil industry but above all the gas industry, which has significantly contributed to a new phase of development, new jobs, and a new socioeconomic life.
Positively contributing to the project, the Transport Highway is a significant national event where public and private resources combine to create a meaningful benefit for an entire region.
Based on studies that ensure the compensations will not impact the fiscal targets of the administration, the Avança Macaé Development Program was created. The Avança Macaé program seeks to expand the capacity of municipal government action with contributions from individuals or legal entities in the city’s development, always placing the directly benefited population first.
