Top Equipment, Enhanced Comfort, and Reliable Engine Highlight the New Honda City Sedan 2025, but the Absence of Turbo or Hybrid Still Weighs.

The new Honda City sedan 2025 has arrived with updates that promise to shake up the compact sedan segment. Equipped with unprecedented technologies in the category and superior finishing, it consolidates itself as a more complete option than its main competitor, the Virtus. However, the performance of the 1.5 naturally aspirated engine still leaves something to be desired compared to the turbo rival.

Honda has made a leap in the equipment list of the new Honda City sedan 2025, which now includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go function, lane keeping assist, and dual-zone digital air conditioning. Items like these are rare in the category and make the City stand out in comfort and safety. The model offers generous interior space, rear USB-C ports, and a 519-liter trunk, characteristics that enhance its family appeal.

Engine of the New Honda City Sedan 2025: Reliable, but Conservative

New Honda City Sedan 2025: more complete than the Virtus, with 126 hp, 519 liters of trunk space and prices starting at R$ 117 thousand, but still without a turbo engine!

The Honda 1.5 naturally aspirated engine with direct injection delivers 126 horsepower and 15.8 kgfm of torque, satisfactory numbers for those seeking efficiency. However, it falls short in agility, especially compared to the Virtus 1.0 TSI turbo, which offers quicker responses at low RPMs. Nevertheless, the City maintains its tradition of fuel economy, achieving averages of 13 km/l in the city and 16.5 km/l on the highway, figures that please in daily use.

Performance and Comfort in Focus

Although the performance of the new Honda City sedan 2025 is not sporty, the comfort makes up for it. The recalibrated CVT improves smoothness at the wheel, while the enhanced acoustic insulation and ergonomic seats ensure pleasant journeys. On the other hand, the absence of independent rear suspension and the hard plastic finishing in some areas may disappoint those seeking more refinement.

Competition: Virtus Remains in the Fight

Compared to the Virtus, the new Honda City sedan 2025 has the advantage in finishing and equipment, but loses in performance. The Volkswagen rival, with a turbo engine, offers more available torque and faster acceleration. In return, the City promises to be more reliable and economical in the long run, a characteristic that the Honda engine always carries.

Price: High, but Competitive

The starting price of R$ 117 thousand for the LX version positions the City as an attractive option in the segment. The top-of-the-line Touring version, priced at R$ 142 thousand, is cheaper than the Virtus Highline (R$ 144 thousand) and offers more equipment. However, many consumers may question whether the performance difference justifies the investment in the Japanese model.

The new Honda City sedan 2025 is the ideal choice for those seeking comfort, technology, and economy in a compact sedan. Although it is more complete than the Virtus, it falls short in terms of performance. The future of the segment calls for bolder moves, and a turbo or hybrid engine would make a significant difference in solidifying the City as an absolute leader. Until then, it remains a strong, but not perfect option.
