Helix, a British company with a long history in electric motors, launched the SPX 177, an electric motor that promises to revolutionize electric vehicles. This motor, with 872 horsepower, weighs only 28 kg, making it one of the most powerful and lightweight motors on the market.

The SPX 177 is part of a technology called Scalable Central System (SCT), which allows for the creation of electric motors adaptable to various needs. Helix offers three product levels: stock, configured, and customized, enabling the motor to meet a wide range of applications.

Helix’s Innovation Doesn’t Stop There

The team at Division X, composed of pioneering engineers, constantly works to push the boundaries of electric motor technology. It was this team that developed the SPX 177, a motor designed for hypercars but which can be adapted for other types of vehicles.

The SPX 177 was created with the goal of minimizing losses and heat generation while maintaining maximum performance even at high speeds. This motor is capable of producing 650 kW of continuous power, equivalent to 872 horsepower, and has already declared the capability to reach up to 939 horsepower in tests.

In addition to its impressive power, the SPX 177 features a compact and efficient design. It includes a 13 kg inverter that converts battery energy for the motor, ensuring efficient operation. The motor and inverter work together to enhance performance and thermal management.
