New Electric V8 Engine From Xiaomi May Arrive In The Automotive Market In 2025. The Engine Will Have Capacity To Deliver 578 HP And Reach 35 Thousand RPM.

After the launch of its first electric car, the SU7 Sedan, which loses about 10 thousand euros on each unit sold, along with a significant decrease in delivery times, Xiaomi announced that it is developing a new electric V8 engine capable of reaching a power of 578 HP at 27,200 RPM. The estimate is that by the end of the project, the engine will manage to reach 35 thousand RPM.

Meet The New V8 Electric Engine From Xiaomi

The new electric V8 engine from Xiaomi will join the V6 and V6s engines of the HyperEngine family, debuted in the SU7, which aim to replace gasoline combustion engines in this new era of modern electric cars.

The reference to six- and eight-cylinder V engines, which transmit to the combustion vehicle universe, even though they are increasingly less popular, may still make sense. The engines used in the Chinese electric car, available in rear-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations, have a power of 230 kW (299 HP) and 275 kW (374 HP), respectively. The V6 provides a torque of 400 Nm and uses a 400V architecture.

The V6s, in turn, has an increase in torque to 500 Nm, but already resorts to an 800V architecture. In both cases, the maximum regime is reached at 21 thousand RPM.

The Xiaomi electric car promises a top speed of 265 km/h and an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.78 seconds. Returning to Xiaomi’s electric V8 engine, according to the Spanish website “Diario Motor,” it is said that the Chinese company plans to start production of the engine in 2025, which will be introduced in its new electric cars.

Xiaomi Electric V8 Engine May Reach 35 Thousand RPM

Xiaomi will launch its even more advanced electric V8 engine, following the example of Tesla with its carbon rotor motors. The American manufacturer developed a technique to apply a carbon coating to the engine through a mesh, which will allow for the creation of high-strength rotors capable of achieving higher rotational speeds and more power. The expectation is that Xiaomi’s electric V8 engine will reach 35 thousand RPM.

It is worth noting that, in addition to the SU7 sedan, Xiaomi announced last September the SSC SC-01, a sports electric car with characteristics of classic combustion models.

In Chinese, the electric sedan is called XiaoPaoChe, which in free translation is something similar to the small sports car. The vehicle weighs only 1,370 kg due to its tubular steel chassis. Thus, the 431 horsepower and all-wheel drive offered by the two electric motors are enough to take the model from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds.

New Revolutionary Engine Of 500 HP

In addition to this new electric V8 engine from Xiaomi, a company called Equipmake, based in Norfolk, UK, has developed the HPM-400 engine, a new electric engine weighing just 40 kg but with exceptionally high power, marking a potential advance in the global automotive industry.

With 30 kg for the motor and 10 kg for the silicon carbide inverter, it has the capacity to deliver a maximum of 400 kW, equivalent to 544 horsepower and 250 Nm, while spinning up to 20 thousand RPM. With extraordinary power density, the HPM-400 engine is recognized as the most powerful in the world and was showcased at the “Future Propulsion” conference held last year in the UK.
