New Round of Birthday Withdrawal Expands Opportunities for Those with Active FGTS Balance
The FGTS birthday withdrawal is once again making waves in the economic landscape in 2025. With the official calendar in effect since January, thousands of Brazilians have already begun receiving amounts corresponding to their balance tiers.
This modality allows annual withdrawals in the worker’s birth month. It remains the most sought-after option for those who want quick access to their FGTS balance without the need for employment termination.
Although the amounts are proportional to the available balance, the new 2025 table brought positive adjustments for intermediate tiers, particularly favoring those with amounts between R$ 1,000 and R$ 10,000.

How Does the FGTS Birthday Withdrawal Work?
The birthday withdrawal gives workers the chance to withdraw a portion of their FGTS balance annually in their birthday month. Enrollment can be done at any time, directly via the FGTS app or the official Caixa website.
However, by opting for this modality, the worker foregoes the total withdrawal of the fund in the event of dismissal without just cause. They will only receive the 40% penalty paid by the employer.
Therefore, the choice requires planning and prior knowledge of the rules governing the modality.
Official Table with Values and Withdrawal Tiers
The FGTS withdrawal table for 2025 follows the guidelines set by the Ministry of Labor. It uses balance tiers to calculate the released amounts. See the percentages:
- Up to R$ 500.00: withdrawal of 50% of the balance, without additional installment
- From R$ 500.01 to R$ 1,000.00: 40% of the balance + R$ 50.00
- From R$ 1,000.01 to R$ 5,000.00: 30% of the balance + R$ 150.00
- From R$ 5,000.01 to R$ 10,000.00: 20% of the balance + R$ 650.00
- From R$ 10,000.01 to R$ 15,000.00: 15% of the balance + R$ 1,150.00
- From R$ 15,000.01 to R$ 20,000.00: 10% of the balance + R$ 1,900.00
- Above R$ 20,000.01: 5% of the balance + R$ 2,900.00
According to Caixa Econômica Federal, deposits are being made according to the schedule established since January 2025, without delays.
2025 Calendar: When is the Money Released?
The withdrawal is available on the first business day of the worker’s birthday month. From then, they have up to 60 days to make the withdrawal. For example, those born in March have from March 1 to April 30 to withdraw.
The schedule is annual. It is valid for all workers who have opted for the birthday withdrawal by the last business day of the month preceding their birthday.
How to Opt for the Birthday Withdrawal?
Enrollment is voluntary and can be done at any time. The process is 100% digital and straightforward. Here’s how to do it:
- Access the official FGTS app or the Caixa website
- Log in with CPF and password
- Select “Birthday Withdrawal”
- Read the terms and confirm enrollment
- Register a bank account to receive the amount
Thus, the amount will be credited within up to five business days, counted from the start of the payment window.
Is it Possible to Return to Resignation Withdrawal?
Yes. But the return will only occur after 25 months from the request. This means that, even after requesting the change, the worker will remain subject to the rules of the birthday withdrawal for a complete two years.
This measure, according to Caixa, aims to ensure predictability in the operation of the system and prevent constant changes in the modality.
What to Evaluate Before Choosing this Modality?
Before opting for the birthday withdrawal, it is essential to carefully assess the scenario of professional stability. After all, opting for this could be advantageous for those who do not intend to change jobs soon and, on the other hand, need financial resources in a planned manner.
Advantages:
- Annual access to a portion of the fund
- Scheduled withdrawal for specific situations
- Enrollment and receipt are completely digital
Disadvantages:
- Restrictions on withdrawal in case of dismissal without just cause
- Longer period to return to the previous modality
- Lower liquidity in emergencies
What Do Experts and Authorities Say?
Since its implementation in 2019, the birthday withdrawal has already been chosen by over 32 million Brazilians. In 2025, this trend continues. Caixa reported in an official statement released in April that the number of enrollments grew by 12% compared to the same period in 2024.
According to Reinaldo Domingos, a financial education specialist at DSOP, the birthday withdrawal can be useful, but it should be treated as a supplement and not as income. Recurring use can compromise the worker’s financial security in the future.
FGTS 2025 and Future Perspectives
As of May 2025, the federal government has not signaled any changes to the birthday withdrawal policy. Congress has been analyzing legislative proposals since 2023 but has not yet approved any.
Therefore, the rule remains valid and active for all formally employed workers who have available balance in their FGTS account.
Have you opted for the birthday withdrawal in 2025? Are you satisfied with the modality, or do you intend to return to the traditional model?
