With Competitive Prices and Unquestionable Quality, the RX5 from Rway Shows That Chinese SUVs Are Here to Stay
The automotive world has undergone significant transformations in recent years, mainly with the advancements of electric and hybrid cars. But that’s not all that has been keeping traditional automakers up at night.
The increasingly robust Chinese market, with quality products, has been spreading like wildfire in global markets. And the new RX5 SUV from Rway, part of the massive SAIC Motors group, is living proof of that.

Choose Between Combustion or Hybrid Version
If you think this SUV is just about looks, you are very mistaken! Mechanically, the RX5 can come equipped with a 1.5 Turbo four-cylinder engine delivering up to 188 horsepower and 30.2 kgfm of torque. Want more? There’s the plug-in hybrid version with three motors that together deliver up to 300 horsepower and 58.1 kgfm of torque. All of this is coupled with a seven-speed automated transmission.
The RX5 doesn’t skimp when it comes to technology and safety. The vehicle offers semi-autonomous driving systems that include adaptive cruise control, cross-traffic alert, and even pedestrian and animal detectors. Is that good enough or do you want more?
Show-Stopping Finishing
The interior of the Rway SUV does not disappoint. The multimedia system, with 24 inches linked to the digital dashboard, offers wireless connectivity for Apple Car Play and Android Auto. And that’s not all: the car also features a panoramic sunroof, front seats with electric adjustments, wireless phone charging, and a premium sound system that feels like a concert hall.
Thinking this whole package will cost an arm and a leg? Think again! The RX5 starts at 159,900 yuan in China, which is equivalent to about 110,000 reais in direct conversion without taxes. Considering what it offers, it far surpasses many SUVs sold here for a much steeper price.
The SAIC Motors group, which owns Rway, has been the top-selling car manufacturer in China for the 17th consecutive year, with 5.2 million vehicles sold in 2022. The RX5 is yet another product proving that the Chinese know what they are doing. So, will traditional automakers be able to slow down this advance? Time will tell, but one thing is for sure: the RX5 has come to shake up the SUV market.
