Construction of a Railway Terminal Begins a Historic Milestone for Logistics and the Economy of the State. With Ongoing Works Since October and Projected to Generate Over a Thousand Jobs, the Project Aims to Drain Millions of Tons of Grains.

The construction of a new railway terminal for cargo in Mato Grosso is generating great expectations and movement in the southeastern region of the state.

Amid construction sites and heavy machinery, residents and business owners are following the emergence of an infrastructure project that promises to deeply impact the cities of Dom Aquino, Primavera do Leste, and other nearby municipalities.

More than just a simple railway expansion, this terminal is part of one of the largest logistics projects underway in Brazil, coordinated by Rumo, with a forecast to drain millions of tons of grains annually, including soybeans and corn, while also attracting investments in various economic areas.

Private Investment and Regional Scope

The new terminal is part of the expansion of the Senador Vicente Emílio Vuolo State Railway, which extends over 700 km between Rondonópolis, Cuiabá, and Lucas do Rio Verde, with a planned route to connect the north and south of Mato Grosso.

With entirely private investment, the project is essential for optimizing cargo transport, in addition to contributing to the reduction of trucks on the roads, alleviating traffic congestion, and enhancing safety on the region’s highways.

Impact on Agribusiness and National Logistics

Located on an area of 2 million square meters near BR-070, the terminal stands out for its capacity to drain up to 10 million tons of grains annually, focusing on essential products like soybeans and corn.

“This initiative directly benefits local producers by reducing logistics costs and promoting a more efficient supply chain,” says Walter Mancuso, Rumo’s executive manager of terminal implementation.

According to Mancuso, the new terminal not only facilitates the country’s internal logistics but also ensures faster delivery of products to the Port of Santos, enhancing the competitiveness of Brazilian agriculture in the global market.

Job Creation and Community Participation

The railway terminal project mobilizes several companies, led by Egelte Engenharia Ltda., and is already beginning to create job opportunities for the local population. According to Mancuso, the forecast is for over a thousand direct and indirect jobs, attracting workers from all over the country to the region.

The project involves, in addition to the movement of 700 thousand cubic meters of earth, an impressive consumption of over 17 thousand cubic meters of concrete and 2,500 tons of steel, requirements that demonstrate the magnitude and importance of the construction.

Urban Development and Social Challenges

With the arrival of workers, Primavera do Leste and Dom Aquino are preparing to meet the growing demand for urban infrastructure.

“For at least three years, we have been working to make business owners and the population aware of the need to expand our hotel and housing network,” highlights Joselino Soares Godoi, president of the Primavera do Leste Commercial Association (Aciple).

With about 93 thousand inhabitants and one of the largest economies in the state, the municipality hopes to attract new companies, especially agro-industries, which will consolidate the local economic vocation based on agribusiness.

In Dom Aquino, the president of the rural union, Wildon Cardoso, mentions the importance of the project for regional development.

He explains that in a small town with low demographic density, the construction of the terminal requires a series of adaptations.

“We are working with the city hall to expand the availability of housing and prepare the city for the population increase,” he says.

Cardoso also highlights the expected economic impact: “With this project, tax revenue should grow, along with job creation that will transform the lives of local communities.”

Potential to Boost Agro-Industries

In addition to urban infrastructure, it is expected that the new terminal will bring advancements in the establishment of agro-industries in the region.

According to data from IBGE, the economy of Primavera do Leste is driven by agriculture and should benefit even more from the railway expansion.

For Godoi, president of Aciple, the terminal represents the possibility of strengthening local commerce and attracting investments that add value to regional production.

“With the completion of the works, we believe the municipality will have a more efficient logistics system and an even more robust economic base,” he concludes.

A Historic Milestone for the Economy of Mato Grosso

Located 170 kilometers from Cuiabá, Dom Aquino, a town with about 8 thousand inhabitants and an economy centered on agriculture, is preparing to gain national prominence.

The installation of Rumo’s terminal represents a milestone for the municipality, which is expected to attract a larger volume of business and investments.

Previously recognized for grain and coconut production, the city is now consolidating itself as an important logistics point, with the potential to transform the region’s development.

In 2026, when the railway terminal is fully operational, Mato Grosso will be connected to the national railway network with a structure capable of meeting the growth of agribusiness and local industry.

The construction not only marks an advance for the export logistics of the state but also signals the beginning of a new era for the economy and the quality of life for the populations of Dom Aquino, Primavera do Leste, and neighboring cities.
