The Diamond DA62, acclaimed as the most economical airplane than a car, boasts unmatched performance with its Austrian manufacturing, assemblies in Canada and Brazil, uniting cutting-edge technology and fuel efficiency to revolutionize private aviation.

Manufactured in Austria and with assemblies also in Canada and Brazil, the Diamond DA62 redefines efficiency in air transport. With its first flight in 2012, evolving from the DA52 version, this twin-engine airplane stands out for its fuel economy and low operational cost. Using Jet A1 aviation kerosene, the DA62 promises a revolution in private aviation, especially for the Aeromot model in Rio Grande do Sul.

Equipped with diesel cycle engines from Austro Engine, the DA62 consumes only 44.7 liters per hour in cruise flight, rivaling the economy of automotive vehicles. The aircraft features a cabin with capacity for up to seven people, offering comfort and practicality. And of course, the carbon fiber design and an optional TKS ice protection system contribute to its efficiency and safety.

The airplane incorporates Garmin 1000 NXi avionics, offering significant benefits in safety and navigation. With fully electronic engine controls (FADEC) and features such as a three-axis autopilot, the DA62 ensures not only simplified operation but also a safer flying experience. Its innovative propulsion system allows for rapid descents and altitude maintenance, even in single-engine mode, reinforcing its position as a leader in economy and performance in its category.

The Diamond DA62 not only defies conventions with its economy comparable to that of a car, but also sets new standards in aircraft design and technology. With its arrival in Brazil, it promises to be an attractive option for executive and private aviation, combining luxury, efficiency, and technological innovation.

Engines of the Most Economical Airplane than a Car

The engines of the Diamond DA62 are a remarkable highlight in aviation, being Austro Engine AE330 diesel cycle propellers, with a configuration of four inline cylinders. These engines have a unique characteristic: they are based on an automotive design from Mercedes, adapted for aeronautical use. With 2.0 liters and 16 valves, these engines offer a balance between robust performance and fuel efficiency.

The efficiency of the AE330 engines is exemplified by the consumption of only 44.7 liters of aviation kerosene per hour in cruise, making the DA62 more economical than many cars. This economy is amplified by the direct injection system, which pressurizes the fuel to 23,000 PSI, ensuring clean and efficient combustion.

The Diamond DA62 Earns the Title of “Most Economical Airplane than a Car” Due to Its Remarkable Efficiency in Fuel Consumption

To calculate the total fuel consumed by the Diamond DA62 on a 2,385 km flight, considering a consumption of 44.7 liters per hour at a speed of 356 km/h: Calculate the flight time by dividing the distance by the speed: 2,385 km ÷ 356 km/h = approximately 6.7 hours. Multiply the flight time by the consumption per hour: 6.7 hours × 44.7 liters/hour = approximately 299.49 liters. Therefore, the DA62 would consume about 300 liters of fuel to cover this distance.

Comparing it with the Land Rover Discovery Sport, which is one of the thirstiest cars and gets 6.8 km/l in the city with gasoline, the Diamond DA62 shows remarkable efficiency. To travel the same distance of 2,385 km, the Discovery Sport would consume over 350 liters of gasoline, well above the 300 liters of kerosene of the DA62, highlighting the airplane’s greater economy for long trips.
