With Super Sports Performance, Premium Finish, and Competitive Price, Geely’s Electric Model Arrives to Disrupt the Luxury Segment.
The Zeekr 001 is a Chinese car that has arrived to surprise the market. Launched in 2021, Zeekr belongs to the Geely group, the same owner of Volvo. Its goal is bold: to compete directly with the Porsche Taycan. And it gets close. In tests, the model went from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4 seconds, an impressive figure that places it as a heavyweight rival in the luxury electric vehicle scene.
The Shooting Brake Silhouette That Impresses

The first impression of the Zeekr 001 is its design. The body is of the shooting brake type, an elegant mix of station wagon and sports car. This choice gives it a unique and attractive silhouette, with a pronounced roof drop that evokes sportiness.
The dimensions are generous: almost 5 meters in length and an incredible 3 meters in wheelbase. The pneumatic suspension is a highlight, allowing the car’s height to be raised by up to 18 cm, giving it the capability to tackle urban obstacles, such as the streets of São Paulo. Details like the 22-inch wheels (on the top-of-the-line version), the black roof, and the hidden door handles reinforce its modernity. At the front, the divided and raised headlights provide a unique personality.

A Spacious and Connected Interior

Inside, the Zeekr 001 delivers what is expected from a luxury Chinese car. The interior is a true estate, thanks to the long wheelbase. Shoulder and leg space is generous, even for three occupants in the back seat. The materials are high quality, with Nappa leather on the seats and Alcantara on the roof lining.
The dashboard is dominated by a large 15-inch screen, which controls almost all vehicle functions. The operation is intuitive, with easy pairing with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. However, the absence of physical buttons can hinder ergonomics in some situations. For rear passengers, a 5-inch screen allows control of the air conditioning, seat reclining, and the premium Yamaha sound system.
The Power That Surpasses Expectations
The Zeekr 001 is equipped with two electric motors, one on each axle, ensuring all-wheel drive. Together, they deliver 544 horsepower and 70 kgf.m of torque. The result is an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4 seconds, a figure very close to the Taycan. Weighing over 2,300 kg, the performance impresses.
The pneumatic suspension adjusts according to the driving mode. In Sport mode, the car becomes lower and stiffer, ensuring stability in high-speed corners. Despite comfort, the overall setup is firmer. One point to note, however, is the driver assistance systems. Technologies like lane assist and emergency braking have proven to be intrusive in Brazilian traffic conditions, potentially causing unnecessary scares.
Volvo Base, Real Range, and Fast Recharging
The base of the Zeekr 001 is the modern SEA platform, shared with Volvo models, such as the EX30. This is an 800V architecture that allows for much faster charging. With a 100 kWh battery, it’s possible to charge up to 80% in just 30 minutes at a DC charger. At a 22 kW AC outlet, the time is about 5 hours and 30 minutes.
The range declared by Inmetro is 426 km. However, in tests with predominantly road use, the vehicle exceeded 500 km on a charge. This efficiency is a significant differential, allowing for longer trips without the constant worry of recharging.
Price and Proposal in the Brazilian Market
This Chinese car arrived in Brazil in two versions. The Premium is priced at R$ 428,000, while the top-of-the-line Flagship costs R$ 475,000. For comparison, the Porsche Taycan starts at R$ 820,000, almost double the price, and offers 408 horsepower in its entry-level version.
Between October and May, Zeekr sold 117 units of the 001, a figure considered significant and within the brand’s expectations. During the same period, the Porsche Taycan recorded 221 sales for the entire year of 2024. With a luxury package, high technology, and superior performance at a much more competitive price, the Zeekr 001 positions itself as a strong competitor, ready to challenge German dominance in the electric sports car segment.
