Ocyan’s Innovation Program Has A Pilot Project That Aims To Reduce Man-Hours In The Inspection Of Electrical Equipment By 20%
The Ocyan Waves Challenge innovation program from Ocyan is now in its final phase with the conclusion of several pilot projects.
One of them is from the São Paulo startup Confirm8, which optimizes and simplifies the inspection of electrical equipment that operates in potentially explosive atmospheres (EX) and proposes to reduce the time spent on these processes by 20%. See the coverage here of ANP’s mega auction!
“As we have never worked with companies in the oil and gas sector, we faced some inherent difficulties in the business, but we can say that we have done well so far. Now, in the final phase, we believe we will have all the validations of the pilot”, highlights Otávio Yamanaka, founder of Confirm8.

According to him, besides the product fit with the proposed challenges, Confirm8 has already gone through a very similar pilot execution process with Braskem in 2018. “We are in the contracting phase with Braskem, leveraging the knowledge gained in the petrochemical segment as well as with the product. We see a great opportunity to collaborate now with Ocyan”, Yamanaka comments.
Confirm8’s proposal focuses on asset and facilities maintenance management, with a system that adapts to all technical processes.
The company is also developing a mobile app that turns any mobile device into a powerful data collector and validator. For Ocyan, it was found that the priority was to improve technical inspection processes to comply with the IEC/NBR regulatory standard, and their proposed solution seemed to meet this need.
The members of Confirm8 involved in this project had to take a Navy course, the CBSP (Basic Safety Course on Platforms), for five days, totaling 40 hours, in Santos (SP). There, they received certification for onboard operations, acquiring training such as firefighting and general exercises at sea.
New Perspectives
The company believes it can implement something similar in other companies in the sector. “Not exactly the same project, because this one has some particularities. But, for sure, it will be along the same lines.
We want to expand to the full use of the system and app, involving other processes to multiply results in management”, points out the founder.
Otávio also believes that participation in the Ocyan Waves Challenge will open doors, particularly for the internationalization of the business, since many foreign oil and gas companies operate in Brazil. With the technical knowledge gained, this program will position Confirm8 as a reference in innovation in the segment.
