To drive the Digital Transformation program, Ocyan signed a contract with Intelie, the Brazilian subsidiary of the American group RigNet, for the acquisition of the Intelie Live platform. This will be used at the Decision Support Center (CSD), a modern intelligence and operations space of the Drilling Unit (UN-P) of the company, at the Macaé Base (RJ). The company will use Intelie Live, a system based on artificial intelligence, for the integrated monitoring of its entire fleet of drilling platforms.

“This integrated monitoring system combines efficient big data analytics, machine learning, and IoT (Internet of Things) solutions. Together, they will allow the implementation of CBM (Condition Based Maintenance) to increase the lifecycle of critical equipment and develop a Bow Tie, a methodology for risk assessment and management in real-time to monitor the conditions of mitigation barriers to prevent serious accidents. These are just a few of the solutions that will come from the new data evaluation system,” explains Rodrigo Chamusca, responsible for the CSD and Digital Transformation at the Ocyan Drilling Business Unit.

With the implementation of the solution, the CSD will be able to monitor several systems of Ocyan, including Maintenance, Safety, Drilling, Well Control and Integrity, BOP, Power Management System (PMS), and Dynamic Positioning (DP). The program demonstrates the company’s pioneering role in technological and innovative solutions in the oil and gas sector. “The Intelie Live platform has helped us gain access to all available data in a fully integrated way. We will respond quickly and have ready solutions for day-to-day challenges. Innovations in artificial intelligence will benefit all our clients in the oil and gas industry,” emphasizes Chamusca.

According to RigNet executive, Lelio Souza, the partnership will enable the expansion of new clients in this sector. “We are excited to expand our offshore drilling presence through this partnership with Ocyan and the use of Intelie Live. We are confident that this synergy will be a success,” said the director and co-founder of Intelie and vice president of RigNet.

Technology and Innovation

Ocyan has opened important work fronts in technology and innovation over the past 12 months to increase the efficiency of management in all areas of the company. The goal is to raise the safety standard, focusing on operational excellence, and consequently, generate new business through a competitive advantage.

In addition to the CSD, the company launched CompRiser, a solution for ultra-deepwater fields, especially Brazil’s pre-salt, whose studies began in 2016. CompRiser was presented to the market for the first time at OTC Houston 2018 and is in the process of international certification by DNV GL. The product is a partnership with Magma Global and the shipyard BrasFels.

Another important step was the creation of the open innovation platform Ocyan Waves, whose first program is the Ocyan Waves Challenge, aimed at startups in search of developing solutions for the company’s challenges, both in operational and support areas.

In the area of Maintenance and Offshore Services (MSO), the company initiated a series of partnerships with foreign companies to bring new technological solutions to Brazil. Among them is the one established with Tube-Mac, a Canadian company specialized in the installation and assembly of piping using cold and no-weld connections.
