Ocyan, through its Maintenance and Offshore Services (MSO) division, has entered into an agreement with the Canadian company Tube-Mac to offer a new technology to players in the oil, gas, and petrochemical market in Brazil. This technology enables the installation and assembly of pipelines using cold, welded connections known as Pyplok®. The initiative is part of Ocyan’s strategy to bring technological solutions that can be applied in the sector and are used outside Brazil, through partnerships with foreign companies that do not yet operate locally. Tube-Mac is the first of these.
“Today, the market is asking us for this change, which is a response to the growth of activities and operations in the business. The idea is to partner with companies that complement our services by adding innovation to increase our delivery capacity, improve cost-effectiveness, and reduce risk, an important factor for safety, which is our main value,” explains Vinicius Castilho, director of Ocyan’s Maintenance and Offshore Services division.

The material from Tube-Mac allows for interventions and weld-free assemblies on pipes from 1/4” to 4” and metric connections from 6mm to 60mm, with pressures of up to 10,000 psi and temperatures of up to 205ºC. The installation process requires less time, bringing greater efficiency and operational safety during interventions. “For comparison, the installation of 10 pieces of Pyplok can be done in just 2 hours, while the same work with welding can take between 1 to 2 days,” explains Ocyan’s director.
Vinicius also emphasizes that the solution has already been used in several projects abroad, being widely utilized in the oil and gas market by major international companies such as Equinor, Shell, Chevron, Aker, NOV, and by Ocyan itself during the assembly of the Delba III Drillship outside the country. Additionally, Pyplok connections carry DNV, Lloyds, ABS, BV, and RMS (“Russian Maritime Register of Shipping”) certifications.
Tube-Mac’s Weld-Free Connections (Pyplok) generally have low installation costs, reduced man-hours worked, a leak-free system, greater durability, easy installation without requiring additional inspections through Non-Destructive Testing, using cold technology safely and reliably.
Ocyan’s Maintenance and Offshore Services (MSO) division continues to provide maintenance services and asset assembly that includes integrated maintenance activity planning, planning and execution of production and drilling shutdowns, repair solutions, project assembly (welding, piping, and electrical/instrumentation), industrial painting and high-performance painting, engineering projects, commissioning services, and more. With 17 years of experience, the division has accumulated over 30 contracts, more than 10,000 tons assembled aboard offshore installations, 1 million square meters painted, and 14 million meters of scaffolding erected, for example.
