Vamos, Amage, and Grupo G10 Lead the Largest Truck Purchases in Brazil with Giant Orders That Move the Transportation Sector.

Brazil, with its vast roads and growing economy, has a robust and essential road transport sector. Recently, a monumental purchase redefined the market, marking the largest truck purchase in Brazil in one go.

Prominent companies such as Vamos, Amage, and Grupo G10 are at the forefront of this revolution, heavily investing in renewing and expanding their fleets. These acquisitions not only move billions but also reflect a growing commitment to efficiency and sustainability in cargo transportation.

1st Place: 1350 Trucks from Vamos

The largest truck purchase in Brazil in one go was made by Vamos, a company of the Simpar Group, specialized in truck and machine rental. In the midst of the pandemic, Vamos ordered 1350 vehicles from Volkswagen, the largest sale ever made by the manufacturer to a single customer and the largest order from Vamos to date.

The delivery of the trucks took place between August and December 2020, and to meet this gigantic order, Volkswagen had to reopen the second production shift at its factory in Resende, in the southern region of Rio de Janeiro. The contract value was not disclosed, but the flexibility of truck rental contracts during the pandemic was a key factor for this decision.

From this order, 80% of the trucks were allocated to new contracts signed by Vamos in the three months prior to the request, and the rest was used for fleet renewal. Vamos’s fleet mainly serves agribusiness, with 40% of the trucks, and 21% dedicated to logistics and transportation.

2nd Place: 350 Trucks from Amage

Amage, a giant in agribusiness, made the second largest truck purchase in Brazil in one go, acquiring 350 Scania trucks last year. Of these, 100 trucks are ready to run on B100 biodiesel, a strategic move by the company to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 2035.

The models acquired include 100 units of the R500 6×4 Super, configured to run on biodiesel, and 250 units of the R560 6×4 Super that use conventional S10 diesel. These trucks comply with the new pollutant emission reduction legislation that has been in effect since January 2023.

Before this purchase, Amage already had a fleet of 700 trucks and expects to close 2024 with a fleet of 1000 vehicles. The company fuels its trucks with biodiesel produced at its own factory in Lucas do Rio Verde, Mato Grosso, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and operational efficiency.

3rd Place: 300 Trucks from Grupo G10

The third place on this list of giants is occupied by Grupo G10, a conglomerate of transportation companies based in Maringá, Paraná. In a single move, G10 acquired 300 Scania trucks, spending R$ 165 million. This was the largest purchase in G10’s history and the second largest ever recorded by Scania in Brazil.

The acquired models, R450 6×2 and R500 6×4, were customized to meet the specific needs of the group, which transports grains, fertilizers, sugar, ethanol, seeds, and steel. This purchase is part of G10’s fleet renewal plan, scheduled to take place in 2019 and financed by BNDES and private banks.

The largest truck purchase in Brazil in one go highlights the robustness of the road transport sector in the country. Companies like Vamos, Amage, and Grupo G10 are heavily investing in renewing and expanding their fleets, seeking efficiency and sustainability. These acquisitions not only drive the economy but also reflect the importance of cargo transportation in Brazil, a vital sector for national development.
