The promise of having a cinema camera that fits in your pocket has never been more real. DJI, the global leader in the drone market, has set a new standard with the launch of the DJI Mini 4 Pro, a concentrate of technology that defies the laws of physics by packing cutting-edge features into a body weighing less than 250 grams. The result is a drone that not only captures spectacular images but also offers flight safety previously seen only in much larger and more expensive models.
But what do these abbreviations and numbers — 4K at 100fps, omnidirectional sensors, O4 transmission — mean for the average user, whether a video professional or a travel enthusiast? We analyzed the engineering details and features of the Mini 4 Pro to understand how it became the most desired drone on the market.
Do You Need an ANAC License to Fly the DJI Mini 4 Pro?
This is the most important question for anyone wanting to buy a drone in Brazil, and the answer is the biggest advantage of the Mini 4 Pro. Brazilian legislation, defined by ANAC (National Civil Aviation Agency), states that drones with a takeoff weight below 250 grams have much simpler rules.

It is important to note that, even with simplified regulation, the pilot must always follow DECEA flight rules, such as not flying over people, keeping distance from airports, and respecting others’ privacy.
Is It Difficult to Pilot for a Beginner?
The short answer is: no, it is surprisingly easy. The biggest innovation of the DJI Mini 4 Pro is the inclusion of an omnidirectional obstacle detection system (360 degrees). Sensors in the front, back, sides, top, and bottom create a “safety cocoon” around the drone. When it detects an obstacle, such as a tree or wall, it can stop and hover in the air or even autonomously avoid it.
This technology practically eliminates the main cause of drone accidents: collisions due to pilot error. For a beginner, this means a much smoother and safer learning curve. Smart features like ActiveTrack 360°, which allows the drone to follow an object or person autonomously while avoiding obstacles, make creating cinematic videos accessible to anyone.
How Long Does the Battery Last in Practice?
DJI states a maximum flight time of 34 minutes with the standard battery. It is important to understand that this number is obtained under ideal conditions, with no wind and at a constant speed. In practice, in the real world, the flight time is somewhat shorter.
In a review of the DJI Mini 4 Pro under normal conditions, with moderate winds and performing maneuvers for filming, a pilot can expect a safe flight time of between 25 and 28 minutes per battery. This is an excellent time for the category and allows capturing a significant amount of footage before needing to land for a swap.
Is the Image Quality Really Good?
Yes, the quality is the highlight of the drone. It is equipped with a 1/1.3 inch sensor, larger than that of many high-end smartphones. The standout feature is its ability to record in 4K at 100 frames per second (fps). This allows for the creation of slow-motion videos with impressive clarity and fluidity, a feature previously reserved for professional drones.
Additionally, it records in 4K at 60fps with HDR technology, which balances the light and dark areas of the image, ideal for sunset scenes or landscapes with high contrast. The ability to record in D-Log M 10-bit color profiles offers professionals greater flexibility for editing and coloring images in post-production, bringing the final result closer to that of a cinema camera. As for the video transmission system, OcuSync 4 (O4) ensures a stable and high quality signal for control up to 10 km (limit set by Anatel in Brazil), although the title mentions the maximum capability of the device under ideal conditions and without regulation.
