The six-month contract signed between Petrobras and the Port of Rio de Janeiro is considered very important for the economy of the municipality and the state.

The agreement has already been authorized by the National Agency of Waterway Transportation (ANTAQ), which also allowed for the celebration of other subsequent contracts until the competitive bidding process for the area is held.

According to the report, the preparation of a Technical, Economic, and Environmental Viability Study (EVTEA) to proceed with the permanent leasing process of the terminal will be the next step to be taken.

Petrobras’ Operations at the Port of Rio de Janeiro Supported the First Explorations of the Pre-Salt Fields

For Eduardo Miguez, Business Development Manager at Docas do Rio, Petrobras’ operation at the Port of Rio de Janeiro supported the first explorations of the pre-salt fields.

“The maintenance of this operation demonstrates the commitment and seriousness with which Docas do Rio has been working. This generates trust and credibility in the market, ensuring that Petrobras is dedicated to maintaining its base at the Port of Rio, which has strategic importance for both the company and the country,” emphasized Miguez.

According to Pablo Fonseca, Superintendent of Planning and Business Development, the contract established between the Port of Rio and Petrobras is a gain for the entire port community:

“In addition to ensuring the maintenance of operations, the activity will continue to contribute significantly to the socioeconomic development of the port area. Finally, the signing of the contract demonstrates the strength of the Port of Rio de Janeiro in the oil and gas market and port support.”
