The Delivery of Equipment by OneSubsea Completes a Four-Year Cycle and Strengthens Petrobras’ Operational Capacity in the World’s Largest Deepwater Oil Field.

OneSubsea has completed the delivery of the 21st and final subsea tree for the Búzios project, operated by Petrobras. The announcement, made today, June 23, marks the end of a four-year journey. This advance is significant for operations in the field, considered the largest oil and gas field in deep waters in the world.

Petrobras Completes Crucial Stage in the Largest Deepwater Oil Field

An important phase of the Búzios 6 to 9 project has been completed. OneSubsea, a joint venture between SLB, Aker Solutions, and Subsea7, delivered the last subsea tree and production adapter base. This completion strengthens Petrobras’ development strategy for the field.

The project’s scope was extensive and involved a remarkable effort. A total of 21 trees of 10,000 cubic meters were provided, developed for the pre-salt. The package also included seven subsea distribution units (SDUs) and all spare parts. More than 500 employees from the company’s plants in Taubaté, Macaé, Celle, Diamould, and Colico participated in the production.

Búzios: The Giant Field in the Santos Basin

Located in the Santos Basin, the Búzios field is about 180 kilometers off the coast of Rio de Janeiro. The area was discovered in 2010, and Petrobras began its operations in 2018. The field is the second largest in Brazil in terms of volume and reserves, second only to Tupi. The current development plan for Búzios includes 11 platforms.

Partnerships and Record Production Propel Petrobras

Petrobras is the main operator of the field, holding a 88.98% stake. The state-owned company partners with CNOOC (7.34%) and CNPC (3.67%), with Pré-Sal Petróleo S.A. (PPSA) acting as manager. The field achieved a historical milestone on February 24, with a record production of 800,000 barrels of oil per day. This result was achieved following the arrival of the FPSO Almirante Tamandaré, the sixth production unit on site.
