The Largest Hacker Marathon in Latin America Sponsored by Petrobras Opens Many Opportunities for Professional Growth. Candidates from All Over Brazil Can Participate!
The Brazilian oil giant Petrobras announced in a relevant fact last night that it is sponsoring today (26) until 28/11, the largest gathering of hackers in Latin America, Hacking.Rio. In the 42-hour technological marathon, participants must propose solutions to challenges aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as respond to a challenge from NASA related to cybercrime.

According to the announcement, the competition will be divided into 17 thematic clusters that may include games, Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence, and Blockchain, among others. The “good hackers” teams will have the support of mentors and specialists from companies like Petrobras to develop solutions for the challenges posed during the event.

In Total, There Will Be R$ 150 Thousand in General Prizes Donated by Petrobras
The exclusive platform developed for the online event will allow hackers to exchange ideas through chats and video calls. Participants, organized into teams of 3 to 5 people from different profiles and areas of knowledge, must present a Minimum Viable Product (MVP).
Each winning team from one of the 17 categories of Hacking.Rio will receive a prize of R$ 5 thousand. For the victorious team of the NASA Challenge, the prize is R$ 30 thousand. After that, the 18 winning teams will compete in the final of Hacking.Rio, and the “winner of winners” will receive an additional R$ 30 thousand. The Best Mentor will also be awarded R$ 5 thousand, highlighting the Best Educational Institution, totaling R$ 150 thousand in general prizes.
In addition to the money, other partner benefits will be offered to winners such as: startup acceleration programs, scholarships, exclusive products, and trips abroad. Winners of the two categories, Junior and Master, will be announced on the website and YouTube channel of Hacking.Rio on November 30.
