Check below the list of questions and answers with Petrobras’ position
Is it true that there are dozens of people infected on board the P-67 platform?
Petrobras informs that eight collaborators from P-67 were preventively disembarked due to flu-like symptoms between March 21 and 22, according to the protocol adopted by the company.
As in these cases, the company has opted for preventive disembarkation, even if the symptoms do not constitute a clinical picture for coronavirus.
What measures are taken when a suspected case is reported?
We monitor all reported suspected cases at the company’s facilities and take all preventive measures, including disinfecting the workplace and monitoring those who had close contact with the collaborator.
We have also adopted, out of caution, even more stringent criteria in confined installations, such as offshore platforms. In these cases, even if the symptoms do not characterize a suspicious case of coronavirus according to the Ministry of Health criteria, the company may decide for preventive disembarkation.
On Sunday, 03/22, two collaborators tested positive for Covid-19, both stationed in the state of Rio de Janeiro. One of them works on a shift basis, was on leave, and has not been in the company’s facilities since the infection. The other works in an administrative role, and as soon as he reported the symptoms to the company’s health team, all preventive measures were taken.
So far, four Petrobras collaborators have tested positive for Covid-19.
Has any Petrobras building or floor been evacuated due to coronavirus infection?
No. Petrobras buildings are at minimal occupancy, restricted to essential activities that cannot be performed remotely. The company has been adopting all preventive measures, and when someone presents respiratory symptoms, even without fitting the clinical assessment for coronavirus, cleaning procedures are reinforced. Some photos circulating depict cleaning procedures. There has been no evacuation of floors or buildings.
Will the refineries stop due to the coronavirus?
The information disseminated on social media about the closure of the company’s refineries due to the Covid-19 pandemic is unfounded. Spreading false news in the face of the adverse scenario our society is currently facing is an irresponsible and criminal act. Petrobras will take appropriate legal measures with the police authorities.
Petrobras reinforces that it is taking a series of measures to preserve the health of its collaborators, following the guidelines of the Ministry of Health. The actions taken so far have not had any impact on the company’s production. Operations on platforms and refineries remain normal.
Among the measures disclosed by Petrobras, is the reduction of the workforce to the minimum necessary for the operation of its platforms. Will this impact production in any way?
So far, there is no impact on our production. It is possible to operate the platforms with a reduced workforce without compromising the company’s production and operational safety. We will continue to monitor the developments of this crisis to reassess this issue daily.
Is it necessary for all collaborators working on the platform to be tested for the diagnosis of coronavirus before boarding?
The information that all workers will be tested for the presence of the new coronavirus before boarding is false. Before boarding, all collaborators will undergo a prior isolation of 7 days and will be examined at the boarding locations. People will undergo a health condition assessment, which includes checking body temperature.
Does Petrobras intend to adopt more restrictive measures to further reduce the number of employees circulating in its headquarters and other units?
The current guidance from the company is that all collaborators performing administrative activities that can be done remotely adopt telework. After widespread dissemination of this guideline on Monday (03/16), more than 70% of workers stationed in the headquarters buildings (Edise) and Senate (Edisen), in downtown Rio de Janeiro, are already working from home.
Due to the nature of Petrobras’ activities, even in administrative buildings, there are collaborators performing functions that cannot be executed remotely. The company is daily assessing the need for new measures, with the support of the permanent committee created to monitor the evolution of the global health situation caused by the new coronavirus.
Has the Comperj construction stopped due to coronavirus?
In Itaboraí, the number of workers on the construction site has been reduced and all are undergoing daily body temperature checks. There has been a reorganization of lunch and transportation routines to prevent gatherings. Workers with suspected symptoms are being directed to residential quarantine.
Has the circulation of collaborators arriving at the boarding locations for the platforms been affected due to restrictions imposed on intercity and interstate buses?
We maintain continuous dialogue with government entities to ensure that the buses transporting our collaborators can operate while following the necessary preventive measures.
