Petrobras Estimates Size of Leak from Modec-Operated Unit in Campos Basin Last Week
Petrobras suspended a small oil leak from a Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) unit in a field that is being decommissioned. The leak from one of the tanks in the City of Rio de Janeiro, in the Espadarte field, in the Campos Basin, was noticed on January 2, the state-run oil company reported on Monday.
An emergency plan was implemented and the leak was stopped the next day after the oil had been drained from the tank. Petrobras estimates that about 4.9 cubic meters (approximately 31 barrels) were spilled.

“The regulatory agencies have been duly informed and an inquiry committee will investigate the causes of the incident in cooperation with Modec,” said Petrobras.
