Petrobras Will Continue to Use Support Base for Flexible Pipe Movement in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro
Petrobras has extended the logistics support contract for the movement of flexible pipes with Baker Hughes, a GE company. The agreement of R$ 250 million will last for two years, with the possibility of renewal for one more year.
The activities will be carried out at the BHGE base in Niterói (RJ), used by Petrobras since 2014, when it was inaugurated alongside the Wellstream flexible pipe factory.

The hiring of the services was originally formalized in 2011 for US$ 200 million with the company then acquired by GE O&G.
BHGE – the result of the merger between GE O&G and Baker Hughes – was the only company to submit a proposal in the bidding process conducted by Petrobras to hire a base for two years.
The oil company aimed to contract a larger base; however, as the process had already lasted for two years, the state-owned company decided to open a bidding process to ensure it could meet its demand until the new facility was available.
Negotiations for hiring the greenfield project are ongoing with TechnipFMC, which offered an area at the Porto do Açu, where it has a flexible line factory.
The bidding notice provides for the hiring of a base with four berths to store up to 300 coils for five years.
