So far, Petrobras has completed its maintenance shutdown campaign on the P-51 platform, located in the Campos Basin. It is now focusing its efforts and investment on the ongoing maintenance and scheduled shutdown activities on the P-53 and P-43 oil and gas platforms, with completion expected this month.
Still in 2022, the company plans to initiate the maintenance campaign on the P-48 and P-40 platforms as well. Thus, the UMS will be essential to accommodate workers and all necessary equipment for performing maintenance services in oil and gas exploration areas.
In addition to investing in the acquisition and chartering of UMS for the campaigns, the Exploration and Production Unit of the Campos Basin (UN-BC) of Petrobras will use, starting in August 2022, a small accommodation vessel for smaller scope works, thus ensuring even greater efficiency in the services.
Investment in UMS Will Be Essential to Ensure Efficiency in Maintenance Services in the Campos Basin, State-Owned Company Claims
Petrobras’s investment of US$ 220 million in UMS for the maintenance campaign of the Campos Basin fields will be essential for greater efficiency in the services, as each unit of this platform can accommodate around 500 workers involved in campaigns or scheduled shutdowns of operating maritime units.
Moreover, the flotel hotels connect to the platforms undergoing maintenance through a bridge, thus ensuring easier movement for workers.
“In these campaigns, suppliers and partners work together with the company from planning, material supply, to the delivery of each critical service. Besides structuring the planning, the management team takes care of its execution, monitoring, and control and relies on the support of internal management and professionals on board the maritime units. A large maintenance project and scheduled shutdown cycle typically takes about two years, from the project team’s appointment, initiation, and planning to implementation and closure,” detailed the company regarding the project in a recent statement.
Petrobras is now refocusing its main investment on the ongoing shutdown on the P-53 and P-43 oil and gas platforms and continues its maintenance plan until completion, expected to occur later in 2023, with services on the five platforms.
