In The Next Four Years, Petrobras Aims To Open 19,560 Places In Free Professional Training Courses.

Last Thursday, (06/27), Petrobras announced a significant investment of R$ 350 million in professional development across various Brazilian states, aiming to train 19,560 professionals over the next four years. The free professional training courses will mainly focus on Pernambuco, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Paraná, and Rio Grande do Sul, with the Abreu e Lima Refinery (RNEST) receiving the majority of the spots.

Free Courses To Get A Job In The Energy Sector

The Abreu e Lima Refinery hosted the signing event of the agreement between Petrobras and the Federal Institutes of Education, Science, and Technology, represented by FAIFSul.

This historic agreement promises to transform professional qualification in the region, with Pernambuco leading with over 60 classes scheduled for the second half of 2024, totaling 1,700 spots.

The free courses offered cover a wide range of essential specializations for the energy sector, such as Boiler Maker, Electrician, Inspector, Instrument Technician, Assembly Mechanic, Scaffolder, Welder, in addition to technical courses like Automation, Electrotechnics, Mechanics, Planning, and Safety.

Besides the Federal Institutes, the program also includes partnerships with the S System, represented by SESI-SENAI Rio de Janeiro.

This collaboration will promote 12,750 spots in 23 Initial and Continuing Education (FIC) courses and 9 technical courses, expanding opportunities for local residents and vulnerable groups.

Inclusion And Opportunity For All

José Maria Rangel, Executive Manager of Social Responsibility at Petrobras, highlighted that the program of free courses aims not only to meet the demand for skilled labor but also to promote social inclusion.

Prioritizing low-income individuals, women, LGBTQIA+ people, people with disabilities, indigenous people, quilombolas, and individuals of African descent, the program seeks equity in job opportunities.

Additional Benefits And Support For Families

The free courses will vary in duration, from 4 to 9 months for the FIC courses and two years for the technical courses, with scholarships ranging from R$ 660.00 to R$ 858.00 per month.

Women with children up to 11 years old will receive the higher amount, in addition to childcare spaces offered by the Federal Institutes to facilitate mothers’ participation in the courses.

Promising Future And Expansion Of Petrobras’ Free Professional Qualification Course Program

With the forecast of up to 170 classes in 2024 and growth to more than 360 classes in 2025 and 277 classes between 2026–27, the Petrobras Autonomy and Income Program promises to be a significant catalyst for the economic and social development of the involved regions.

The notices for enrollment in the free courses will be launched at the end of July, with a preference for online registrations to facilitate access.

The details about the selection processes will be announced by the partner institutions, ensuring transparency and equality of opportunities for all interested in participating in this transformative project.

This investment by Petrobras not only strengthens the energy sector but also opens doors for thousands of Brazilians seeking free professional training courses and better job opportunities.

With a clear commitment to inclusion and qualification, Petrobras reaffirms its role as an agent of positive change in Brazil.
