Petrobras Announced Yesterday, on the 8th, Its Commitment to the New Gas Market and Reports Prices Fell by 36% Since December 2019
Yesterday afternoon (8th), Petrobras released a statement reaffirming its total commitment to the new natural gas market. It reported that the sales prices of the fuel, including transportation, for the distributors of the new contracts that started in January this year, had an average reduction of 36% this month, compared to December 2019 and considering the exchange rate on the date of the last contract adjustment (April 30).

In the statement, it informs that, “this primarily results from the changes negotiated with the distributors for the new sales contracts, where the price of the gas molecule is linked to the variation in the price of oil in the international market and is reviewed every three months. Consequently, the drop in oil prices in recent months has allowed for a reduction in gas prices.”
It is worth noting that the final price of natural gas sold to consumers is not solely determined by the company. There are also transportation costs and the margins of distributors, as well as the incorporation of federal and state taxes.
The tariffs also undergo an approval process by each state regulatory agency, according to specific legislation and regulation.
