Petrobras Initiatives Cover All Regions of Brazil and Include, Besides Meal Delivery, Distribution of Gas Cylinders or Assistance for Cooking Gas Purchases for Vulnerable Families
Petrobras announced yesterday (03/21), in a material fact, that it has partnered with the social organization Gastromotiva to expand food supply for people in situations of food insecurity in major urban centers, in five states across the country. The initiative, which aims to distribute up to 1.5 million meals, is one of the fronts of Petrobras’s social program for access to cooking gas (liquefied petroleum gas – LPG), for which the company will allocate up to R$ 300 million by the end of this year. On Friday (03/18), an event was held at Gastromotiva’s headquarters in Rio de Janeiro to mark the beginning of the partnership.
Petrobras Allocates R$ 500 Thousand to Gastromotiva for Acquisition and Distribution of Gas Cylinders for Community Kitchens, Which Will Produce and Distribute Meals to the Population of Amazonas, Bahia, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, and São Paulo States
According to Petrobras’s statement, since 2020 the organization has been developing the Gastromotiva Solidary Kitchens program, which aims to provide food to the most vulnerable populations through the establishment of community kitchens led by micro-entrepreneurs, cooks, local leaders, social organizations, and collectives. With the partnership, the Brazilian oil company will allocate up to R$ 500 thousand to Gastromotiva for the acquisition and distribution of gas cylinders for community kitchens, which will produce and distribute meals to the population.
It is expected that 77 solidarity kitchens, located in 16 municipalities in the states of Amazonas, Bahia, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, and São Paulo, will benefit from the initiative, with the possibility of expansion to kitchens in other regions. They will provide meals for individuals and families experiencing food insecurity and homeless people in nearby communities, including areas close to Petrobras’s administrative buildings.

“We are very motivated by the possibility of partnering with Gastromotiva, which does an extraordinary job with its Solidary Kitchen program, ensuring a warm meal for Brazilians who need it most. Many are in extreme vulnerability. I am moved to witness that our cooking gas donations help deliver food to those in need, and often, this is not even visible to society,” says the Executive Manager of Social Responsibility at Petrobras, Rafaela Guedes.
“This partnership with Petrobras will be our way to mitigate the economic impact of food costs on the budgets of low-income families receiving meals from Gastromotiva. I have recently heard about the significant impact of this cost on the dining table of Brazilians across all regions of the country. Petrobras will be our ally in the mission to combat hunger and food insecurity in Brazil,” comments David Hertz, co-founder and president of Gastromotiva.
