Worker Dies In Accident During Inspection Activity On Petrobras FPSO, Cidade Mangaratiba, Currently Chartered By Japanese Modec
Information about a fatal accident aboard the FPSO Cidade de Mangaratiba (MV24) operated by Modec and chartered by Petrobras arrived at the CPG last night (31). We contacted the companies involved in the operation, and so far, Petrobras is the only one that has responded with a clarification note to our press advisory. Here is the official statement:
“Petrobras regrets to inform that, on this Sunday (01/31), an industrial climber from the company SISTAC passed away after a fall during an inspection in a tank of the FPSO Cidade de Mangaratiba, chartered by MODEC, which operates in the Tupi field, in the Santos Basin. The employee received immediate medical attention at the site but did not survive. Petrobras is in contact with Sistac and MODEC, who will provide support to the family. The company will monitor the case and, together with MODEC, will create a commission to investigate the occurrence”, concludes Petrobras in an official note to Click Petróleo e Gás.

Petrobras informed in a relevant fact this morning, January 29, that it identified the presence of hydrocarbons in a pioneering oil well in block C-M-411, located in the pre-salt of the Campos Basin, in the State of Rio de Janeiro.

Hydrocarbons are compounds formed solely by carbon and hydrogen, whose main source in nature is oil.
The well 1-BRSA-1377-RJS, informally named Urissanê, is located approximately 200 km from the coast, in a water depth of 2,950 meters, where the presence of oil was confirmed in reservoirs of the pre-salt section.
