In the statement, the Brazilian state oil company said that the agreement was mediated as part of a leniency agreement between Vitol and the Federal Public Ministry.

According to Petrobras, the company has recovered R$ 4.8 billion in agreements and compensations related to the Lava Jato investigation so far.

Earlier this month, Vitol’s U.S. subsidiary agreed to pay US$ 164 million to resolve U.S. government investigations into alleged bribery the company paid in Brazil and other countries to boost its oil trading business. Vitol stated in a statement at the time that it does not tolerate corruption and is cooperating with authorities.

Petrobras Initiates Arbitration Against Odebrecht for R$ 800 Million Related to the Braskem Petrochemical

Petrobras announced last Tuesday (28) that it has initiated an arbitration request for damages against Odebrecht, estimated at approximately R$ 800 million.

According to the market report, Petrobras alleges violation of the shareholder agreement terms regarding Braskem. The Braskem petrochemical is not a party to the referred arbitration, which is protected by confidentiality, the statement explained.

In August this year, Odebrecht announced that it would sell its entire stake in Braskem. The news came through a document sent to the Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM).
